what really concerns me is the amount of people in my circle that are cool with the state of current affairs in this country.
It is cause for concern.
Look on the bright side, guys... a new American President is hopefully coming soon. Perhaps that will bring a change in the situation. I wouldn't be surprised if the new President withdraws the troops from Iraq fairly promptly considering the unpopularity of them being there in the first place.

Did you see the youtube debate !! Quite fascinating. Clinton said that even if they started the process now it would still take years to withdraw all the troops.

Don't think I've seen that debate. But its probably even more reason to start the process sooner rather than later.
I suspect Obama would manage it quicker than Hilary though!

That's because she has aligned herself with that faction of our government that would like to see a US military presence in the middle east for years (ala S. Korea, Germany etc.) in the guise of 'national interests' - Straussians . Poor Obama doesn't stand a chance, Hillary has alot of friends in high places. All the while the true defender of the republic goes unnoticed:

I wonder how things in Iraq and our government will develop....
Here's part of an answer:
"The Sunni Arab parts of Iraq have been turned into a training ground for Islamist extremists from all parts of the Arab world by the American invasion. Once the American troops are gone, however, the action will soon move elsewhere, for the US defeat in Iraq has dramatically raised the prestige of Islamist revolutionaries throughout the Arab world and beyond. That is where the price of America's Middle Eastern adventure will be paid: not in Iraq itself, but in the Arab states that still have secular and/or pro-Western regimes."

Damn, and if they undergo a regime change, where do we get our oil?? And what if oil prices rise how will our economie react on it? Second economic crash like in the late 70/80.......etc,....but optimism is a moral duty, isn't it??? , As long as they sell guitar strings and food I'm quite passive with it.
