Thanks, I printed out your reply and will think about that, and keep it, with the variation. I had a wonderful time with it, and I'll start my practice session with it today....any ideas are appreciated. I came up with some of my own variations, and took the ideas to completion, great!
hello. thank you, again, romerito, for your help. i started this discussion on the modern tanguillos because sometimes it's frustrating to enjoy a rhythm but not actually understand it.
if you search the internet, you will notice how little information you can find on the modern tanguillos, though it is a complex palo and compas - that i can't explain.
it is true that bulerias is something complex and spectacular, and worth attention, but if you think of the overall structure (not just compas) of, for example, more traditional tangos or alegrias, (camaron - ante el altar me juraste, el lebrijano - amante, amante, estrella morente - tangos de pepico), you will discover amazingly complex things: for instance, the apparently asymetrical way of placing the coplas in the song
for example, in this tanguillos by javier conde it is easy to keep the beat with the foot:
but in this one, by tanguillos chano, it takes a little practice to detect where you have to tap with your foot - the tendency is to tap on the wrong times... but if you listen carefully the beginning of the piece, you can actually hear a foot tap by the bass player, i guess... but you have to turn the volume up:
hello, romerito. another question... when they play the 5 palmas in tanguillos, do those palmas fall on times 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6? or on 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5?
