workshops in London on Monday 7th?

Are any of you London-based guys going to either of the workshops at South Bank Centre on Monday? I'm going to the first one, the introduction - don't think I'm quite up to the standard of a Gerardo Nunez masterclass yet!!

Anyway if you are, it'd be good to compare notes - be interested to hear what other people think.

I went to Nunez' workshop in London last year, although I don't think I'll make it this year. It was pretty good. Make sure you get a seat near the front because nothing is written down... its a "watch me and copy" type of lesson, so you'll need a clear view of what he is doing. and Gerardo doesn't speak much English (although there will probably be a translator present). It might be a good idea to record the lesson somehow, so that you can play it back and learn from it at a later date. I think the biggest difficulty I had in the workshop was figuring out the fingerings of the exercises Nunez played, as he wasn't great at explaining this, and it was hard to pick up just from watching him for play for a couple of minutes. But even if you don't find it easy, it will be good just to see one of the best Flamenco guitarists in the world play up close and personal.

I was gonna ask him for his autograph last time, but I didn't know how to say it in Spanish, and I lost the nerve. One guy did go up and shake his hand though...

Hmmm, it seems Nunez is doing only ONE class this year. Last time he did THREE... a beginners class, an intermediate class and an advanced one. Maybe he didn't like teaching the newbies...
