But melodically, that is the distinction for me, and the point that the singer you worked with was trying to make to the dancer. Also there is the problem I have run into where how many letras there are going to be. When the singer singes the second letra "macho" with the high notes, it should be obvious that the solea por bulerias stuff is over. But I have seen MANY dancers that don't know any better or don't appreciate that and after a bit of a llamada look over like "wheres my third letra????". When it comes to defining the terms, at least when there is dancing, there is a lot of "mixing" going on so it is hard to learn that way. Again, we are talking about the abstract names for "songs" that simply are what they are whatever you want to call them or the dance as a whole. The other day there was a substitute singer that was really just a dancer. She did not know or feel comfy singing Solxbul for the dancer, so she sang Bamberas! To me Solea, Soleares, Solea por Bulerias, bulerias por solea, you are sort of splitting hairs with terminology. Solea de Jerez or Solea de Cadiz Solea de Alcala,etc is alot more specific. OK Question for you Romerito. On Tauromagia there is essentially a guitar solo "De Capote". There is no palo name given by the composer. There is a bit of cante on it. So what would YOU call it? Solea. Solea por Medio. Solea por bulerias. Bulerias por solea?? Ricardo

Solxbul is just fine with me. Sanlucar did not put ANY form names on purpose, since he was "creating" new things for certain forms like estribillos, and also he wanted the whole thing to be like a big "concept" album. Anyway, guitar wise, he could play the same stuff he plays here for a singer that was singing just normal Solea. Just he would probably slow it down a bit. Not saying he would did or should, just that he COULD, and it would be totally acceptable to call it "Solea" or "Solea por medio" for the guitar mined folk. (understanding that he is playing the "correct" chords for the singer of course!). Anyway, the letra "de triana traigo niña quien me compra...." etc, would be the defining factor of what to call the form. But honestly, I am not familar with where that comes from, the melody, if it traditional or not. I am only familiar with this exact version or "vengo niña..." versions, which I had always assumed others were doing BECAUSE of this version. Meaning I thought it was Sanlucar's creation. Anyone familiar with an earlier version of this letra? That would settle the proper name issue. Regardless, as an accompanist, I know what to play when I hear it sung. Ricardo
