On the evening of February 1st, the Corral de la Pacheca in Madrid hosted the ceremony of the "Flamenco Today" Awards 2006. The jury for these awards is made up by flamenco-specialized media professionals.
Our artist José Manuel León was honoured with the award for Best Solo Guitar New Act for his record Sirimusa, published by BOST Espacio Creativo.
The award was given to León by guitar player Gerardo Núñez , who recounted that José Manuel León was introduced to him by musician - and the album's producer - Pablo Martín-Caminero. And in his usual fraternal and ironic tone, the maestro Gerardo Núñez exclaimed: 'How's that? One more great guitar player from Algeciras. So, no we got two of them, though one was more than enough'.
