How about learning some traditional falsettas, and getting them solid, with flamenco sound, and really understanding what drives this particular toque?
NAH!!!! Just butcher Barrossa up, learn the long picado runs, and go out and impress people that dont know what they're hearing.
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
Dont forget to speed up and down, and constantly go out of compas! Thats my favorite!
Well, that's not true, really Edgar.. I think you two guys just are developing in different ways which conflict... I can see both points of view here. Maybe just give each other some space for a while and just enjoy the rest of the Forum meanwhile.
ORIGINAL: Ron.M I can see both points of view here.
really? Care to explain Toddk's point of view, posting this into a simple tab request thread? I have a hard time understanding it too, especially since its like the third or fourth time he went ballistic at edgar...
Paco, I think ..in fact I know it's because Todd likes a lot of the sounds and energy that Edgar gets. I like it too! I think Todd, as a fellow guitarist, who has studied Flamenco longer than Ed and has gone down wrong pathways and has had to retrace steps and waste time, he's trying to point (or shock) him into the best direction (from his own experience). They are both exceptional guitarists IMO.. But different personalities and backgrounds... I think Todd hears something in Ed's playing that makes him stand out as a future fantastic Flamenco player and gets angry when he sees him fall into the same old traps that makes potentially great players end up mediocre. So for that reason, I don't think Todd's comments are nasty. I think it is just a heated arguement between two very good players.
I think the arguement is more about love than hatred IMO and I think it would probably be more rewarding to both if Ed and Todd could get a bit of an email exchange going, rather than lashing this out on a public forum for our goolish entertainment.
I personally can't really see Todd ever haven taken any free "advice" from anyone myself..other than the info he sought out himself...and probably would have despised anybody who tried to tell him he was "wrong" in his approach... I think Ed's like that too... They both have very dedicated and firm personalities.
Hence the clash of ideas.
That's about it in my estimation for what it's worth....
Ok my live Bulerias was bad but good too. I have done some really cool Bulerias and Alegrias uploads, lots of compliments, never one by Todd. I'm sick and tired of the you don't listen comments.
Its just not true. I can play Flamenco in compas and out of compas, I'm learning and I'm moving forward a lot faster than some.
I have had two compliments from Todd in 1 year wowwwww.
I think you guys can analyze this all you want.
I just wanted to try some harder stuff, excuse me.
I'm done with this ****.
Here are all my best uploads, so I ask anyone who wants to see the truth, to listen to these and tell me if these are Flamenco or not, am I hacking away or should I be proud of my progress.
It's a good thing I'm happy,,,,,,,,,,,,, cause some people have large objects trapped inside there behind.
Oh yeh now what is it that I'm getting further away from exactly. I play study write and enjoy all kinds of music, is that not what being a musician is all about.
Have I missed something, maybe you know something I don't about music.
He who plays with pick and perfect compas.
I enjoy my music and others, it makes me feel that rush of energy, old thoughts memmories, lost love and friends family, music is a totaly different thing when you can internalize it in your feelings and let the music flow through your heart. Music is about love respect, hatred cheating lying, forgiving, war death oppressed, poor, starving living breathing. it is pure human emotion.
If music becomes something other than this to me, I hope a die a quick death.
Todd what does music mean to you and why do you push me so.
I don't know where it started with us but you have me all wrong and I think your missing something bigger than me.
Cheers to all,
Speek from the heart, but sugar coat it when you can hahahahahahahahahahhaa.
