Here in Germany very often if you tell somebody you wanna do a flamenco show they react negatively. If you say "world music" or "fusion" you're more likely to get a gig. But if you do want to play flamenco, "fusion" shouldn't mean "anything goes".

If you wanna make money playing shows, flamenco puro is usually the wrong way to go, most people just don't get it. I'm not too proud to play something like "Jeuxs Interdits" if I know that's what people want to hear and a Taranta would bore them to death. I play for crouds because I enjoy entertaining them.

For accompanyment there is money to be made, though - I pay the rent with just a few nights a week.

Just turn on the radio. Not important which channel. There ARE only Spears and Co. Watch the "next superstar" shows. What do you see? Slimy spears and Co. copys. Sad, no?? Money rules....thats the fact.

The bulerias with "nothing else matters" sounded more like a 3/4 Rumba than a bulerias. Maybe this is the key to the riddle?
