Friends! Who has up-to-date knowledge of tablaos in Madrid? I can read the internet, so I know what they say about themselves. What are they not saying, eh? Eh?
We’re currently looking at the Corral de la Morería for a food ‘n’ flamenco destination but nothing is fixed and I’m earnestly attentive to the wisdom of anyone who has been there lately (or has heard, or knows).
Waiting to hear myself, I was there in 2022 and things had changed since 2019. I am sure the restaurant Carmela is still there with good steaks and likely flamenco activity very close by (ran into a dancer while eating there in 2022 so it was happening at that time).
If you have already checked online to see who is performing, I am not sure what other information you are using to decide where to go?
I was in Jerez last week. Tablaos there don't tell you online who's performing, unlike the tablaos in Madrid/Barcelona. I took a chance and went to La Guarida del Angel, it was average. I've been to a few tablaos in Jerez, in my experience tablaos in Madrid/Barcelona have better artists. On the other hand peñas in Jerez are great.
I'm also curious to read other's experience/recommendation. I haven't been to Madrid for a while.
Damn I missed so much. Just now found out Casa Patas and some others were forced to close due to Covid. I had stopped playing guitar for almost 10 years or so and were so out of loop.
