Nut

What kind of nut is this? Is this bone and palisanto? And whats up with the form? Is this just aestethics or other reason behind it?

It’s just an uncommon kind of old fashioned decorated nut. The fact that it’s laminated together is unusual, but sometimes makers used to decorate the nut by extra carving. It’s not functional, just decorative.

There was a bit of a trend back in the early 1960's where German manufacturers were using black and white nuts. Hofner for example regularly used them. Yours is slightly more elaborate in terms of material and decor, which suggests it was possibly hand made.

The carving itself is a bit of a thing that some luthiers were fooling around with around the time of the 1970's, but likely goes back a bit further than that.

Here's one from 1976 with the same kind of design:
