I want to make a new nut for my "beater" project/learning flamenco guitar. I do not plan to go into the repair business so I would like to keep tool purchase to a minimum. Reason: Nut wear and fret filing/redressing.
Any advice on which size nut file(s) would be best for this part of my project would be appreciated. I understand from my searches that the slots can be slight enlarged by "rocking" the file. Still, I don't have much of an idea of which size file(s) to buy.
Gecko, there's a guy on ebay who sells a WHOLE SET of nut files for about $35. They are actually "feeler guages" (thickness guages) and have had one end machined so that they function as nut files. Apparently they are good quality, and for about the same price as one single nut file from a luthiery shop, you can't go wrong.
