Posting problem

A friend in Córdoba has sent me an interesting article in PDF about Mario Escudero, by one Ignacio Ramos Altamira. I have his permission to post it on the Foro, and I tried to upload to the Resources section. But I get:

Either the feature is disabled, or you do not have sufficient permission.

Can anyone help?

Hi Paul,

It doesn't seem possible to upload pdf in this section of the foro. Perhaps you can upload the article to Google drive and share the link here, as a workaround?

Hi Paul, I’ve ran into this problem before and clearing my cookies resolved it.

Gives you an option to upload a pdf?

arrghh...sorry, I should have went to the section myself and checked, before replying with my suggestion.

Yes, I can see the same message at the bottom of the composition page, too (where normally there is the ‘embed picture in post’ feature).

I spoke too soon, the cache clearing will resolve being blocked from posting a reply, where you will also receive the “ Either the feature is disabled, or you do not have sufficient permission.” message. Sorry about that...

So easy to simply snap a photo, edit it to size and upload it in seconds.

This is 20 pages of closely typed text, with embedded photos.

This time I get a message saying (the PDF file) isn’t supported. gif/txt/jpg are supported.

So I guess that’s it. I’ll try and think of some other method.

So I am guessing you didn't like the google drive option I suggested (possibly because it requires you to have a gmail account), so how about this: https://www.docdroid.net/ you don't need to have an account with them to upload.

Actually, I do have a gmail account; I just don’t use it much, and I’d never used Google Drive.

So I’ve managed to get the doc uploaded. But the URL it gives me is:

https://drive.google.com/drive/my-drive

which doesn’t seem very general.

However, at the top right, there is a Share menu option, and when I choose this it invites me to add people and groups.

So what do I put here? If I had to add everyone on the Foro individually, it would be a lot of typing…

RE: Posting problem (in reply to Paul Magnussen

If you go to the main page of your Google drive, you should see a list of the documents you've uploaded. Right-click on the name of the file you want to share. A menu appears. On that menu, right beneath "share", you should see a "Get link" option (or something to that effect. My Google drive is in French and I'm just translating on the fly). Click on that. A pop-up window appears. You should see the link in the centre. To the right of it a text that says "Copy link". And beneath it you should see a drop-down menu. In that drop-down menu, choose the option that allows anyone who has the link to download the file. Then click on "copy link". Then come over here and add the link by using ctrl+v.

Yep. That worked a charm. :)

It’s quite a substantial article.

Thanks Paul,
very nice article.
I send it trough to my old guitar buddy who studied a long time ago with him.
He would be delighted.

Interesting way to hold your guitar on page 227.
Cannot remember I have seen that before.

I was trying to post in Resources. Which section would allow me to post PDFs, then?

The “persona no identificada” in the photograph on p.233 looks to me like a young Guillermo Ríos. What does everybody else think?

RE: Posting problem (in reply to Paul Magnussen

Many thanks for the article Paul. I have read about 3/4 of it, and will finish it later.

I became aware of Escudero in 1962 when I was stationed in the Army on the East Coast, and made it to New York City frequently on weekends.

I didn't realize there was a near miss in the Spring of 1955, when Escudero performed in Washington, DC. I was in my last year in high school, and was immersed in the classical, jazz and mambo scenes, totally unaware of flamenco.

I have learned a lot more from the article.

The old Austin Guitar Society (not the present Austin Classical Guitar Society) put on a concert by Escudero in the early 1970s. It sold out the 1,200-seat Hogg auditorium on the University of Texas campus. I think I may have been vice president of the society, but I had to be out of town on business and missed the concert.

Definitely. The pic on the right is from Guillermo Rios's website. In fact, it seems like it is from the same event; Scott Willey just moved to the other side of Sabicas:
