Further to my comment on another post, has anyone had any experience with Australian flamenco guitar luthiers?
I really want to avoid all the add on customs charges and taxes involved with buying an instrument overseas. Also, that it would be sight-unseen and not able to be checked out.
I'd love an Anders E. but they all seem to be everywhere but in Australia.

Hi Marz, I am from Melbourne and have a Brett Walker guitar, very happy with mine, responds well and has a great balance, nice to strum and also play melody, as you would expect in a cool guitar. As for Brett, I have known him a while and is a fantastic guy, easy to communicate with and am sure he can sort you out with a guitar with what you need.
Nothing like seeing, hearing and playing a guitar in a live context, as from experience they all sound great in a shop. I am quite happy with the guitar for live playing and records well, for live can be just any Shure vocal mic up close does the trick with minimal fuss, not much feedback at all, not as detailed as a condenser mic but a happy trade off in most cases as the feedback can get gnarly if you want to hear yourself on top of bar noise, so then if there is no dancing a pick up can do the trick too, but I digress. Brett Walker guitar, here I have it playing for dance live, excuse the playing a bit, I soon gave up drinking too much at gigs, and the second one accompanying a singer, not flamenco but you can hear the guitar.

Thanks for your post. I have contacted Brett and will be discussing his guitars soon. We have a mutual friend on Facebook...it's a small world. I's love to contribute to a local luthier, however he seems to keep such a low profile.
