I was watching this thing, trying to make out whether the Latin world of popular music wasn´t offering some more of individuality and originality than its northern counter part these days.
And to a degree, indeed, with their talent for melody they appear able to dress up a tiny bit the inevitable notoriously tiring plastic crap of boy band, rap and disco whathaveyou ...
But then, there actually appeared what I had been hoping for. A plain female singer accompanied by two guitarists. And to top it off that girl was actually not only capable of versatile singing, but even of a personal note at that.
So much even that I thought this gig to be sounding convincing and remarkable in these times of either honed glittering nothing or amateurish boredom. Thus, wanting to track the artists down and present this example to folks, whenever trying to explain what is contemporarily missing out there.
However, watching the show on a Near Eastern channel where commenters (reading stuff from notes in handicapped Arabian script instead of ever just checking the original for pronunciation) hardly ever being able to pronounce any foreign names only just nearly accurately, it was impossible to figure out who the artists were.
And a following online search -what else to expect- would all be featuring the plastic trash of that show, with no single find of the act in question.
If any of you guys have an idea which gig / artists I am trying to figure out about, please be so kind and let me know.

You sure it wasn't one of those desert mirages?

There's a remote area in the middle of the Tabernas desert that is known to Spaniards as the "triangulo de Sabicas". Every flamenco who has ventured there has come out mad, presumably because of a demonic mirage. The last who came out alive was Pepe el Ciego, in 1973. He was found wandering aimlessly through the desert, having gauged his own eyes out. The man who found him asked him what had driven him to do such a thing: - Que has visto caballero? - El... el...maestro Sabicas... en una minifalda... bailando... reggaeton.
(yes, in this story reggaeton existed in 1973)

If nothing else, at least narrow it down to which category the female singer was part of.
I did. Also wasted surprisingly lot of time by searching on the net. But as I said, these days all the attention appears to go with the lame and trivial.
I have no clue which category it might have been. As it was plain and 'simple' handmade stuff with just the singer and two guitar players on stage.
Guess noone here has watched it. This gig should had popped out among the synthetic, sterile shallowness. -
Ever more often you got to wonder about the search machines. Such a popularity with the event, and if you type in something like "Latin American Awards 2018 + singer with two guitarists" you get nada.
It´s like typing in "blade" and finding nothing about knives. ... Or like "flamenco" to find exclusively old fashioned looking shoes with solid soles.
It is being said that there is some kind of slimming down / or tailoring with Google, but I was using Bing at first.

Indeed, this would not be as funny as if she did not have a headache and Jesus were to run up those cellar stairs uttering "For the love of Mary! Where did I put my viagre!!!"

Do not mention censored theology! We shall stick to a purely ascetic and platonic figure, to make away with a party maker of his time. Omen ... err ... Amen

Or like typing "deepthroat" when all you're looking for is historical accounts of Watergate. (I swear that's what I was looking for!! I swear!! Goddamn it, why won't anyone believe me?!!)

Some friends of mine were part of the Latin grammy show several years ago. They had a band bus, an older small bus like the kind they drive old folks around in. Their band had a hit back in the 70's that is still played on the radio so they are able to do gigs like the hollywood bowl along with other oldies acts. IOW, they are known, but not enough to tour all over the world.
Well it turned out the bus broke down a half a block from the red carpet, and the band leader expected the band to get out and push the bus. The actor Jimmy Smits was on the red carpet chatting with Cheech Marin and they thought it was so funny, they were rolling on the ground laughing. The band member who told me the story was like " F*X&ing Jimmy Smits!" Whenever I hear about the Latin grammy awards, I can't help but visualize that scene.
I haven't watched the grammy awards, latin or otherwise for at least a decade. It's a music business event, not a music event IMO.

Tiene que ser. Beautiful song but terrible recording and terrible guitar sound, shame, coulda been better.
I have only a current model iPad with me—no room for headphones among all the winter clothes and camera gear I’m lugging around Alaska, so I can’t comment on the recording, but to me she sounds like one of the greatest Mexican mezzos. Made shivers run down my spine.
I only searched for 10 seconds so it’s just an educated guess.
Bingo, Jason, that it is!
Ain´t it cool?! Such glorious singing, and as cream on the cake that unpretentious presentation. Simply just doing without any pose ´n glitter, and without hype or tad of nervousness in the same time. Served in a cool way like e.g. Black Crows do on stage. -
It made even opinion sharable with a guy who currently is trudging through a country where recently at Klondike two folks where killed by a grizzly. (<- Horrible story as it gets.) -
Anyway, thanks for digging it out, Jason. If I can get this thing on my phone (being smart phone owner now), intention is to show this gig after having tried to make clear to people how lame the local copy cat, made up, uninspired and always lacking in proficiency music (and mostly art altogether) scene is.
Outside from the god ol´& unattainable stuff, this appears like a super contemporarily made example of what quality in music is.

Damn it. There goes my mirage theory...

I forgot the ;) emoji.
“Yo soy como Chile verde, Llorona, picante pero sobroso” not a bad line to use with my Spanglish on some Latinas. Make sure to leave the name in there too lol
