Spanish steak

I eat very little meat, mostly fish, seafood and cacería. But just had a great steak, bought in the local market (because the promised rabbit did not appear). Marinated in wine, whisky and pimiento, and poco hecho a la plancha, with patatas al horno y brocoli al vapor. And, of course, a fine Rioja. Last year a friend from Ireland came to Jerez with 4 others. I took them to Juanito´s, famous for its alchachofas. I had the alcachofas, they all had steak. Afterwards they pronounced it as the best steak they had ever eaten. In the North of Spain, they have special breeds, reared for their meat (rather like Aberdeen Angus in Scotland) and I imagine that the steaks are even better. I prefer to confine myself to fresh fish, lobster, scallops etc, but the meat in Spain is delicious. Morante
