RE: Very rare videos of the maestro Paco (in reply to Ricardo)
It's amazing to see this stuff surface but I have to say I find it hard to watch personally. The whole thing is so depressing. It's virtually impossible to explain to people outside of flamenco what he meant to us. Anyway...........

Emotions are high at the moment, it's to be expected. The "200 years" thing was taken from a quote by José Mercé in the New York Times article.
Quote from Paco in another recent article:
"The gypsies are better since they listen to music from birth. If I had not been born in my father's house I would be nobody. I don't believe in spontaneous genius," the guitarist once said.
Thank you, El Carbonero, for posting these. He's on fire in these clips and the sound is really wonderful. Olé.

Thank you so much, el carbonero. As far as any video cannot bring Paco back, that´s really a wonderful input sharing some special moments of the past to keep the memory to this great master alive.

I tried that yesterrday with my cousin who after hearing from me even saw a concert of Paco in Munich in the eighties ( and has heard flamenco here and there over the years / respecting its virtuousity / appreciating tthe more melodic stuff, lesser though complex improvisations).
However, it remained merely me telling him what the flamenco community was going through. It could not make him size the loss, and I did not try any further either.
As you said already. You need to be touched by the genre beforehand, and to have realized Paco´s role in it.
... Not to mention a grasp of the dear personality.

Nice scenery.
You gotta love the studio filming though because you can see him play much better.
Yep! I enjoyed the crisp film material as well. Most footages of that time are not as clear, at least not as say common versions on YT.
Too bad you can´t permanently record these through VPNs. :0(
RE: Very rare videos of the maestro Paco (in reply to Aretium)
The problem for me is that anything picture or video is being censored here. Thus, if you want to see something still you need to go through kinds of filter-bypass called VPN. Through VPN download applications will not work however. :O(
