Hi everyone, i'm just sitting here playing my guitar, and i'm having a bad guitar day (we all do) and i started thinking what's the most important thing to get into your playing. I think that apart from all the technique and compas dilemas, it comes down to the feel. And it's hard to get it all the time. Good days, bad days. How do you try and have more good days than bad. What are the main things to focus on to get a good flamenco sound and feel? I hope this makes sense

Vicente is assuming a lot. Flamenco is compás, compás y compás. Without it you can have all the technique in the world and loads of attitude but you will never be a flamenco.
Real flamencos learn it from birth or before and take it for granted, so they talk about aire or attitude: they just cannot imagine anyone without compás. With compás and a little bit of technique a musician can pick up aire in weeks. Without it, never.

I think that what Vicente meant in this TV interview was, that without the attitude all the rest means nothing. Tons of tecnique, falsetas and compas, doesn´t help if you don't have the rest. I understand exactly what he means, but it's very difficult to explain. The attitude is the center of the music, the way you do it, the meaning, the soul, what it means to you and the way you look at life in general. All the rest is important, but it's not the center of things, it's the surrounding. I have some old recordings, don't know with whom and when. They are horrible. Guitar and singer sounds like I don't know what, but oooohhh. It's flamenco, no doubt, and this with everything. until the last fiber in one of these dudes. Their attitude is pure flamenco. (and I love it)
But then again, it was Vicente who said it, and I might be interpreting his words wrong Why don't you just ask him.

thats a good one, i wanna add to it " thick skined " to be patient enough and to know that you will get better and better, you decide your limits, no one else.
I remember when i first started playing for dancers and i would mess up and i remember the dirty looks or the litlle comments that would just shutter your confidence and i remember getting really down about it but you have to throw your ego out the window and know that it ill pass.
there is going to be times out there when you are the only one who belives in yourself, so develop thick skin, tunnel vision and know that theres nothing out there u cant achieve if u cant do it this year you will do it in 3 years from now or whatever.
