Rumba pieces with Thumb-Golpe

Hi there,

just saw the german version of Pop Idol, where a spanish/german guy made a terrific rumba and sang to it. The critics were blown away. Actually i think he ccould win, but without the guitar he maybe not mainstream enough, althoug hes got a very good voice.

Anyway this performance has convinced me to learn more rumba strummings, especially the ones with heavy golpes. At the moment i only can do the "standard" one with a-finger golpe on 1 and muting the strings with the hand on 3+ (?).

What i need is some recommendation on titles which have clear audible rumbas. I know that the GK have lots of rumbas, but arent there versions with less guitars?

If you're into rumba like I am, I would highly recommend Ricardo's lesson over on Ramin's website http://www.flamenco-teacher.com

It includes like 6 different patterns, which is excellent for learning the basics. I have Juan Martin's Flamencos Solos Vol 1 (the one with the blue/green cover), and it has about 4 different rumba solos. My favorite being Rumba de la dia nueve, a very nice rumba solo.

I've been considering buying the Gerhard's Gipsy Guitar: Rumbas Flamencas, it's currently on my christmas list.

Ah, good you reminded me of the website. I just had a look on the video preview; its very nice. Theres one pattern that sounds just like horse running btw ...

Not only as a technique, its also nice to hear and very effective, especially to non flamencos , you know...

So give me more examples! Tracks full of golpes please.
