RE: Which cantaor are you listening to? (in reply to Leñador)
Thanks guys for your replies.
I can't listen to Rocio Marquez for too long - like a few minutes. Her pitch sways too much and drives me nuts. I can look at her all day though.
La Tremendita is kinda opposite. I've noticed her from all the Rocio Molina videos and quite liked her style.
I haven't listened to Duqeunde's latest or Jesus Mendez on his own. I'll have to dig that up from somewhere.
I hadn't also heard Remedio Amaya's albums either.
As for the old stuff, yeah. I don't mind a healthy dose of Aguejetas & Manuel Torre when my brain gets a little confused. But how could you not like Cigala?

Agreed. He was my segue into developing a taste for cante in the first place. Now I like both the older and the more contemporary singers. As of late, I keep going back to this one:
And, while you didn't ask for dance videos, I've always thought this one was pretty badass:

arash,i saw guadiana this summer in jerez,he had sing bad. Maybe sometimes he sing good, but not this time.
I have more problems to say someone is a "bad" singer than saying someone is bad guitarist. I can more or less easily find 'bad' guitar players. But with singers i have the 'problem' that meanwhile i almost likem all lol (was not the case earlier, in fact i only liked very few some years ago). Meanwhile for me its like each voice has its distinctive qualities and style and is enjoyable,,, ok there is this wannabe camaron phenomenon , the commercialization, etc. etc. but i also like cigala, duquende and lot lot more as much as i like the old singers.
Lately i've been listening a lot to Antonio Reyes and Rancapino Chico. The guitarist was rushing things a bit too much, you can see Antonio trying to slow it down all the time I prefer Jero to acompany him. Great singer!!
