His major beef with Segovia is Segovia's pretensions to royalty have some how weaseled a marquise-ship out of the Spanish government.
It's a mystery how someone so unmusical could have studied with Segovia. I guess having all the technique in the world can't compensate for a total lack of feeling. His playing has always left me cold.
I thought the truly awful episodes of Friends set in England were a rare example of publicly airing the kind of imbecilic prejudices encouraged by the brigade now calling themselves the tea party.
Imbecilic enough in fact for a Scotsman to jeer.
At the time I was aghast and disgusted. Firstly by the English cast members who allowed themselves to take part and secondly by the confidence with which the whole xenophobic circus was presented. When it turned out that the confidence was well placed and that audiences on both sides would lap it up got rid of my TV and started avoiding visits to friends who left theirs on.
Still at least the American dream got a fair shake in a syndicated show..... for a change.
Whenever i see Children playing Musical instruments to this level it really makes me feel and think about a few things , in a way it makes me feel sore knowing that certain people are born into families familiar with music and are given grounds to start learning an instrument from an early age but not only that from such a receptive mindset due to the nature of being a child.
But then theirs another side , another thing that makes me wounder which is how many of these Children are being forced to play against their will to simply comply with their parents wishes , can you imagine being such a renowned Guitarist hitting every note perfectly sounding so polished to the outside world , yet inside maintaining a feeling of Routine as if were just another Job.
I do know one English person. The electrician I had recently occasion to employee for a couple of problems. At least he sounds English but his business card has a crest on it with the inscription tenez le droit underneath. This is French for Hold the right
can you imagine being such a renowned Guitarist hitting every note perfectly sounding so polished to the outside world , yet inside maintaining a feeling of Routine as if were just another Job.
I hear this all the time in music making.
Yet when I hear real musical commitment in someone like Grisha and then he is accused of being mechanical (by someone who clearly has no ear and has allowed banal prejudice to fly into the empty holes where their ears should be) I get livid.
Hey....... I heard that Williams beef with Segovia was to do with Segovia's designs on William's mother. Sorry for recycling old gossip.
I never heard him say that. He gave a radio interview in Australia in which he really unloaded on Segovia being not only critical of his teaching method but his technique which he said was faulty, his pretensions to royalty, and even making fun of his "orange" guitar! I fully expected to read some of this in his bio but there was none of that but some guarded comments on this teaching method. If you read Strings Attached you will see that Len Williams should have not been upset on Segovia's carry on with his wife as Len was a believer in "free Love". Actually is was Segovia's youngest son that confirmed in writing (guitar forum) of his father's dalliance with Mrs Williams. He didn't reveal how he knew.
Alice went down a Rabbit hole and ended up in a world of pompous grotesques spouting nonsequiturs and demonstrating the intellectual and moral poverty of their trenchant snobbery.
Whereas after trainspotting Ewan McGregor went to America to make films.
I am not sure that Mr McGregor knew his life was proceeding on Swiftian lines.
If Aeolus is aware of invoking Swift then he is a brave man indeed.
Anyone new to Aeolus' posts might think that he is a crass American shaming his country with staggering ignorance and stupidity. Like the character Bill O'Reilley pretends not to be playing.
However the rest of us know that he is a talented performance artist creating a grotesque for our amusement like Stephen Colbert.
Don't let his faux Francophobia fool you, it is a smokescreen and the T is silent.
