Smoothing out AMII Rasgueo

I've got a few hours to practice tomorrow, and I want to work on smoothing out my (non-flicked) AMII rasgueo.

I've been using a metronome and alternating which stroke lands on the beat (AMII / MIIA / IIAM / IAMI). Leading with the middle has proven to be the most difficult, even though it is essentially the same movement no matter where you begin or end.

Does anyone have other exercises they've done that they enjoyed and/or thought were helpful for developing a nice, evenly-spaced rasgueo? I think introducing some variety into my practice would be helpful.

Thanks!

PS apologies if there is already a thread about rasgueo excercises. I only did a cursory search before posting.

Add one more stroke to the pattern and notice how the cycles progress.

Play this as a continuous rasgueado over four beats:

a-m-i-i-a / m-i-i-a-m / i-i-a-m-i / i-a-m-i-i

This way, you're playing quintuplets (5) instead of sixteenth notes (4) and the beat will fall on the next stroke in the pattern. Works for e-a-m-i-i (play in sextuplets) or any other pattern for any technique. Be sure to start slow and keep your hand, arm, shoulders and back relaxed. I'd alternate this kind of exercise ("pushing" muscles) with arpeggios or some other technique ("pulling" muscles).
