As I'm going through my flamenco guitar journey and learn more and more about it, the more I realize there is a big gap in my understanding of cante. Anyone know of a skype instructor or videos for Cante?
I do speak spanish at a basic conversational level and understand it at a slightly higher level.
I can't sing by any means. I took a cante class at the Flamenco Festival In Albuquerque, NM last year with Vicente Griego and really liked it. He might be willing to do something... Ricardo Marlow knows a lot about accompaniment and sings; although I don't know if that is common knowledge. He would be a good teacher to help you with cante accompaniment. I've had a few classes with him studying accompaniment for solea and bulerias and they were quite helpful. I'm sure there are other resources here on the foro as well. Best of luck.
Thanks for the link Orson, cool site, and Tino and J.L.Rodriguez are among my favourite players in Seville.
I did the cante course in Sanlucar last year with Jesus Mendez - if anyone is going to Gerardo's course I highly recommend doing Jesus' cante course if he is still doing it - he is a great singer and has lots of patience for complete non-singers like myself. Well worth it just to hear him sing up close let along learning about cante.
