Cheers from sunny Hull! I have acquired a huge pile of sheet music thanks to the good offices of this site, I may even get round to playing some of it!
Thanks, with all my friends on this site I don't feel too lonely, even down in the valley. I set up the 2nd birthday news announcement a year ago and the computer remember to post it (excellent)! Happy chats for another year to all of us!
I hope you do not feel too isolated in the valley: it was to avoid isolation that I chose to live in a town. I don´t think I could live alone in a little village.
Remember that mi casa es tu casa if you ever feel like a trip to Cádiz, for Jueves Flamencos for example.
Jueves Flamecos start on 14 julio with Aurora and Panseco and end 25 agosto with Chano and La Pitu. In between, Capullo, Mariana Cornejo, Yeyé, Nano, Juan Villar and others. The best night is probably 4 agosto, with 2 of the finest singers alive: Fernando de la Morena and Antonio Reyes. There is always baile as well: Juan Ogalla dances 21 julio.
I don't care for the format: open air, but with most people seated at tables, being served food and drink by waitresses during the cante, while all the flamencos prop up the bar (where there is a large video screen). A bit like a festival: I think Viernes Flamenco in Jerez is much more flamenco: people sitting in rows, listening.
But there is always the cool sea breeze, the seafood, the manzanilla and the occasional juergicita.
When I logged in today, there were 12members logged in and NINETY THREE guests reading this forum. A few minutes ago, the number of members had dropped to nine, but the guest numbers had increased to NINETY NINE! Is this a record? Who are all these people and why don't they come to Hull????
