It's true! "osis" is a possibly termination concerning to disease...but!
In Spain we call "GUASA"(joke/laugh) that which is ironic.
Flamencosis is a fanciful term that means: Person abducted by the flamenco ... but positively.
... And that's how I feel, because since I was born until today, in my land Seville, the flamenco is all around me, chasing me, catch me, and my fight from here is anyone confuse the authentic, with music that does not root and demand has labeled flamenco.

Sorry my English explanation as to "osis" ... certainly there are many words ending in "osis" and are not disease ...
I want to understand, a vision of flamenco from someone who has in his DNA but progressive.
Flamenco in Spain, was frowned upon at the time of the Franco dictatorship (1936-1975) recognized artists were counted on the fingers of one hand and always next to the regime, has been an art damaged and only recognized outside Spain, even the Paco de Lucia was beaten for saying on television that the left hand was the creative and the right hand that executes, was referring to the guitar.

It was very sad to see the nude Alegrías, even though she is very good looking.
It could be argued that dancing nude was better or "less evil" than having sex with any of those men... but if this kind of thing did happen often in Spain, well that's very sad indeed.

Obviously, these images of the film is based on the idea of a script for a film of Buñuel ,in Spain in the years of dictatorship, flamenco was considered something for the holidays of the "gentlemen" (Señoritos) and not well seen, except for especially flamenco festivals were made in Andalucia, Extremadura and later in Catalonia (Cataluña) where many Andalusians emigrated.
In tablaos usual after work, hire artists to private parties (still does), what happens and what they want to invent is another issue, today women who are dedicated to flamenco are respected, which formerly sexism that prevailed during the dictatorship was in a high percentage and a woman was considered an object of amusement.

In Spain Flamenco dance halls are few, most are rooms rumbas and flamenco dancers, as they are for an audience involved, to see real flamenco go to exclusive sites of pure flamenco.
To immerse yourself Flamenco go to the root of where born ... Spain, just as if you want to know Cuban music go to Cuba or Argentina Tango internet ... but now closer to know a culture but we can not smell it.

I have been to Sevilla and Jerez. I studied in Sevilla with Juan del Gastor and Miguel Aragón. This was in 1999. I tried again to get $$$ to travel to Sevilla, but I had no luck.
Back then, it was easier to travel. Now, so many years have passed, I am a father and husband, and it's harder to travel. But I have been lucky because some flamencos have been visiting Canada, and some live here too.

Things have changed a lot ten years now, there is less room flamenco, and the worker must move or do something else, there are fewer records Flamenco singers because ... with piracy, companies disappear and fewer recording artists, there are fewer opportunities and less material, that in the negative. On a positive note, saying that flamenco has evolved through the efforts of foreign companies have invested in shows and recording artists, though flamenco is intangible heritage of humanity, are the people who are dedicated to this art that should be in the window and not the institutions that profit and manage investments, grants and subsidies from Spain, for the artist is very difficult. An example, Bienal de Sevilla ... be on the poster is a lottery, there is no democratic structure you choose the artists, and those who are, for 6 months preparing a show that hopefully will make 2 presentations only ... quality or favoritism ?
We know who are the best artists of today (though we have different tastes each) they are also victim of the crisis that Spain is going, it is ironic that 60 years after having traveled the world and you deserve a place of break in your land, your family, back in Spain abroad because there are no opportunities. I put a video of the Biennial of 1984, they have devoted their life to flamenco, as they are today there are more artists working at that age, but never have traded for it, because his work has never been recognized, there are no entities that help the elderly to recognize their work because they could not prove it, because there was little they earned to register for social security and meet the needs side ... I would like to expand on this aspect, ever will ... and so are recognized.
