Looking for Recordings of Rafael Rod...
I've seen some snippets of Rafael Rodriguez on YouTube, and I really like his style. He sounds very old but very inventive at the same time. He doesn't have any albums under his own name, but I figure he's got to appear as an accompanist on some other people's stuff. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Hola
Rafael es el guitarrista de preferido de David Palomar ( de mi): toca algunas temas en el primer disco de David "Trimilenaria". Also on "Los balcones de mi sueño" de José Anillo. Buscalo en Google.

Do you know which tracks from 'Trimilenaria' Rafael Rodriguez plays on? The siguiriyas on that album is my favorite from David Palomar but anyway I think it sounds like Moraito playing for him there.
I don't know what else Rafael Rodriguez has recorded but in the meantime here he is live accompanying La Tana.

Morante, thanks for the tip on Jose Anillo. I hadn't found that. I know Cabeza plays a lot with David Palomar. I don't have Trimilenaria, but I do have his second album. I'm not sure how much Cabeza plays on that one, though. My liner notes are buried in a box somewhere after my most recent move.
Thanks for the clip, orsonw. Cabeza appears in a fair number of Casa Patas videos. He also seems to play a lot (and brilliantly, IMO) with Rocio Molina, one of my favorite dancers. Like here:
Here's a more theatrically shot video of the same Guajira:
And a third video of the same (why not?)...with better guitar sound:

He does have a CD. He was selling it at the festival in Irvine, CA a few years back. Great CD, they were playing it in the house before the show. Someone should be able to get an email address for him and he can tell you how to get it.

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely look into that.

Digging up an old one here, and surprisingly it's one of the only mentions I could find in the archives of this brilliant guitarist. Does anyone have info on what recordings he appears on besides Palomar's Trimilenaria and the Jose Anillo record mentioned above? I couldn't find any reference to the solo record that supposedly exists.
I really enjoy his accompaniment of David Palomar - they seem to have a lot of fun together:

Ryan, I found an album entitled "El triangulo del flamenco" that has three solos by Rafael Rodriguez (por Zambra, Malaguenas, Guajiras). It appears to be all live recordings. You can find it on Spotify.

Don, thanks very much for the info - we don't have Spotify in Canada (at least not legally/officially), but I found some hard copies online. $30-50/ea ... I'll keep my eyes open
