I've seen little studios with kitchenettes for as low as € 240 a month in Sevilla... I am not sure whether that includes utilities, I wouldn't think so. As for food, if you plan on cooking yourself, it's very cheap... budget €5-8 per day for veggies/fruits and meat.
hi Avimuno i have been to Mauritius for honeymoon, it is a paradise on earth. i wonder how much to rent an apartment in Grand bay near the beach? and also the food?
It's not a bad place to live... although it can feel a bit tiny sometimes.
The best place to look for an apartment to rent in the Grand Baie area would be on www.homeaway.com
Not to advertise or anything but my family owns a serviced apartments complex in Trou aux Biches, which is a beautiful village 15 minutes away from Grand Baie. Trou aux Biches has one of the best beaches of the island. We offer studios and 2-bedrooms apartments on a short term or long term basis. You can see them here: www.residence-maurice.com
Concerning food, you can eat out or cook yourself. Either way you can find options for all budgets. If you like seafood you can always buy fresh fish/squid/octopus/crabs/lobsters/prawns from fishermen themselves... they tend to be cheaper and excellent quality.
Hi Avimuno i will definitly come and stay in your family apartment one day when my baby son can walk and swim.i really love Mauritius island, my heart was left there. i did stay there for over 2 weeks in le paradis , shandrani and another hotel resort near your family apartment. we did spent our money very well there :). i love the lagoon i feel peace , your beautiful island so much better than maldives, Bali ( my home country) or tahiti. I feel you are the luckiest person on earth to be born there and can enjoy the beauty Maritius can give. When i retire one day will live there for few years to enjoy my golden years, that is my dream.
This came up a few months ago. Anders reckons you can live here independantly for about 600 euros per month but thats in Huelva. Thats also assuming you are not running a car. You could rent a city room for around 250 per month sharing bathroom and kitchen. The campo will be cheaper but you have to consider transport. A small village might offer a room for 180 per month. You could probably live on about 150 per month buying all your food at the markets and at mercadona. That means utility bills, electric and water..say another 100 per month. Phone costs at least 60 per month. You'll need some bus money, internet and a little tapas money unless you plan to lock yourself away from society. I guess it is possible frugally on under 600 a month. Back in the peseta days you could live well for under 100,000 pesetas a month (400 pounds) but those days are long gone.
