UK bash!

I know this won't be feasible to all, but a few of us are based in the UK, so why not choose a location and lets get together, say a weekend in some hotel where we can have a bash!
Anyone interested?
Jim.

Nice idear Jim!
A bash, is a kind of jam, am I right?
Perhaps you remember, I come from holland, so that makes it a little difficult for me,
but, if the plan is going to get some definite forms, I will think twice about it!
greetings, Peter

That's it Peter, if the idea gains interest, it would be great to meet you and hear you play that new Gerundino!
Cheers

I thinking of going to the Pena in Matlock Darbyshire which will be Mid september. If I find out the venue and dates would you be interested in meeting there, there are some dancers that I met in Yorkshire in June who run the pena. They invited me down with Ulesis, a singing friend of mine, and we were thinkning of making a night of it. I think Derbyshire is in the the middle on england so not so hard to get to, but maybe quite far from scotland....... So what do you think!???

I think Ive found the venue now just to find the date. I know that the Pena carries no into the night after they finish at the pub.

Need to get something organised soon.

Hey El,
Nice to hear from you, there's lots going on here in Glasgow but I think it would be a good thing to meet sort of mid way, I don't know mabe Manchester/Newcastle or somewhere (I'm mindful of Ron hopefully coming down from Aberdeen). I'd like to put a face to you all and hear you play and swap some ideas. Mabe even have a few beers and talk flamenco.

Hey Ron,
You're a key man in this, what do you think, a weekend with our mates and flamenco guitar?

Afraid not this year Jim.
Just too many complications at the moment.

Anyway, I hope you guys can get something together.
Would be great to combine it with a good concert somewhere, but the UK is not what it used to be as far a Flamenco is concerned. Don't you think so yourself?
I mean, take the Edinburgh Festival (The Biggest Arts Festival in the World!)

I haven't been keeping up with what's happening in London, but it appears that PdL, Tomatito, VA, etc, etc seem to give this place the body swerve!

cheers

Ron

RE: UK bash! (in reply to Ron.M

Hi Ron,
Sorry to hear you wouldn't manage along, but I know the way that life can get really busy and complicated and each week bleeds into the next and you're still hooked on something.
You're right about a lack of activity here in UK, more so Scotland, I've never been a big fan of the Edinburgh Festival, I don't like the place but I guess that's just my West coast attitude. I always try to avoid having to go through and more so at Festival time. I'm having to play a gig there in two weeks but that'll be a shoot in and straight back out.
I guess the thing is to try to be active on your home patch as much as possible and if that's not happening there, find the nearest place where it is.
The big names are few and far between must be the cold or may be the sinister way that the airlines have stopped flying hear direct with stop off at Manchester or Birmingham on most continental flights.
Cheers
Jim.

Hey, Jim, how can i keep up with what's going on in Glasgow. Bob Leslie says he no longer looks after that side of things. I used to visit the El Pele website but it's not maintained any more is it? In the winter, I can probably get cheap flights to Glasgow. I am a very very hungry flamenco.

El C,
Havn't seen Bob for a while and his web site is way out of date.
It depends what you'd like to come over and take part in, I know most things going on here so I'll try to let you know in advance. My dancer, Lorna, is fully involved in the dance stuff and has started to get involved organising the Pena, so I'll let you know.
Cheers
Jim.

Jim

Its a great idea, and much as I'd love to do it, it would not be possible this year, mainly due to finances.

I recently got married, we're building an extension to the house and I've started cutting back on the day job to devote more time to music, so things are tight.

I'm already pulling out of another UK guitar forum meet for the same reasons

Just wanted to add support to your idea though..

RE: UK bash! (in reply to Jon Boyes

Thanks Jon, there seems to be a lot of interest both on the forum and off and it might be that we'll organise a small hotel somewhere over a weekend and just take it over. The only cost would be staying there and travel.
We won't count you out just yet Jon and hope to see you when were organised, who knows, it might end up on your doorstep?
Mmmm..! now that I think of it, my mate, big Alan owns the Golfa Hall Hotel in Welshpool, Powys.....?
Cheers
