What to Buy (tuners)
I need to replace my mechanical tuners (due to damage, to many beers and a wall) on my SC Blanca. Need advice on what to replace them with. I went to LMII, and Ebay to many choices and I have little knowledge on the subject. (12:1 14:1 16:1. from $30 bucks to the hundreds) Help!
hahaha That sounds like a great story Ramiro!! I just logged in to share the laughs!
I believe the gear ratio would not be of much difference (I think 1:1 is like traditional pegs, and 1:16 means more control to fine tune), the quality of the tuners is more important, and for this, I think the cheapest machine tuners' main problem are the Rollers. To which you attach the strings to. Some of them are plain plastic and tend to brake. But anything above the $20 -$30, are reinforced with steel.
Ok, Look forward to reading this thread's recommendations! Saludos!

Gotoh tuners work well, you can get them at Stewmac.com for around $60. What's an SC blanca?
If you want lyra-style, I would get the Gotohs. Scott Ando, who can be reached at domointl at gmail dot com, can order you a more customized set if you want (with ebony tuning buttons). His prices (with shipping) are just a little under StewMac (with shipping). Contact him and he will send you a PDF with the Gotoh catalog.
There's someone else who sells Gotoh tuners for a good price but I can't remember his name. I think he's up in Canada.
If you want Hauser-style, I would get Rubners. Even the inexpensive ones work very well.
