these guitarists are not competent--they are some of the greatest guitarists on the planet! That being said, their aesthetic is very different than that of the flamenco or rock guitarist. They play more softly, generally speaking. Their instrument is more like a harp, ours is more like a drum (in the way they play it, of course).
I think they are all great. If you are interested in checking them out, I have to suggest manuel Barrueco's 100 years of Guitar Masterpieces (I think that's what it's called). It's like 10 bucks and there are 3 CDs, maybe the best buy you will ever get. He plays a lot of the Spanish repertoire in there, some of my favorite classical guitar music. He also has a few studies in there where he rips up the fingerboard, which I know you will appreciate.
As far as David Russell,I listened a bit to that album and it wasn't to my taste (although it actually won a Grammy this year, go figure). If you can find him playing Barrios, I really like the way he plays this composer's music.
I haven't heard much of Eduardo's music but he is supposed to be great as well.
I would be careful about getting sucked up into classical guitar. If it happens to entrap you, it is incredibly demanding in terms of study, perhaps even more so than flamenco, and it will suck up a lot of your time. I have been in a classical phase the last half year or so, and I haven't been able to practice flamenco too much! On the other hand, the classical guys have accumulated a lot of knowledge about how to play the instrument, and it is my opinion that if you are interested in technique, listening to them and talking to them is very helpful. But in truth, they are generally more geeky than flamencos.

Darn, she was obviously thinking PdL, Pena etc instead of compas, simple falsetas and rasguedo rhythms. Sheesh this is depressing..
