RE: Sitting position help (in reply to mark indigo

The A-frame is a product that holds the guitar in place via two rods with suction-cups that attach to the bottom of the guitar, one near your right thigh and one closer to the left thigh. They have a strap that rests on your left knee. It is essentially an "A-frame" like the shape of an alpine cabin. It hinges at two spots and the strap is adjustable. So you find your position and it is held in place. Then you can sit naturally.

My description may be difficult to follow. Check it out on the web and let me know what you think. Better yet, try it out. I'd love to hear your opinion.

honestly, just use a toilet. no one else is doing it, so you wil lget points for originality. plus if you;re a nervous bodily funtion-er then you don't have to worry! all the comforts of home on stage.

RE: Sitting position help (in reply to akatune

i'm a bit reluctant to get involved in this thread 'cos people on here love to ridicule these kinds of things, they are not very "flamenco".

but i will say that after using the trad position, and then the PDL position for a long time, then the Manolo Sanlucar footstool position for quite a while i have settled on using the "gitano" guitar support.

it works for me, i use it to rest the guitar on my right leg, i have both feet on the ground, and it puts the guitar in relation to my body more or less where it would be if i sat in the PDL position but without my having to cross my leg.

it is nearly invisible, when i am playing noone can see it is even there.

and it costs less than a single visit to the osteopath/chiropractor, and i know all about that.

having said all that, i believe that most problems associated with sitting playing the guitar are caused by unnecesary muscular tension, ie. muscular activity which is actually not needed for sitting or playing the guitar, usually taking the form of "fixing" in any position.

Thanks! ehh..Yes I painted it by myself... But maybe its not so simple this position. You need a pretty hot dancer for holding.. So its not suitable for these housewife classes..

The A-frame could be handy again there,

But I wouldn't knock those housewives back too quickly!

Gees I hope there aren't any little ones viewing this forum...
