clearchannel in the house? 
I was told last night by the bartender at the Royal Palms, a resort I play at about once a week, that tonight Clearchannel will be there, and it will be busy. Clearchannel is the huge corporation that owns most of the radio channels in the US, including KYOT, the only non-classical instrumental station commonly available (You know...Smooooth Jazzzzzz- ha ha ha ha ha) . I take this to mean that Clearchannel is having some kind of exective getaway and they will be staying at the 'Palms. I am playing again tonight in the lounge. Maybe this will be my big break, like when the QVC exec discovered Esteban while he was playing in the Hyatt lounge! Do you guys think I should wear a black Zorro hat and sunglasses?!

forget the hat, but get another guitarist, a sopano sax, a funk bass player and drummer, and play as much ottmar like stuff as you can stand. In reality, this would be the time to pull out your rumba Cd featuring a picture of you looking like a soap opera star. Don't forget to smile :-)

Well, the Clearchannel guys never showed up at the bar. Oh well. I experimented and wore my hair down, and the result was a portly lass shouted "You're awesome!" and a nice-looking older blonde slipped me her card while her date was in the bathroom. Man... I love being a guitar player.

Today, a guy showed up at my house and wanted to rent my driveway. He said they were filming a commercial across the street and catering needed some space. "How much you offering?" I asked. "It would be 50 to 100," he said. "Make it 100 and you've got a deal!" He showed up with a little piece of paper to sign and gave me a nice new Benjamin. Easiest $100 I've ever made! Then I slipped him my CD and said, "And if you ever need a guitarist..." Shameless or what??

Then, just as he was leaving, I got a call from one of my resort people. She said she had a very unusual request. A client was in town and wanted to "interview" her entertainment people for a gig in February. Interview!? Is that like an audition, except you don't play? She has my CD, picture, and resume, why is there an interview? I don't know...the last two times I've done auditions, I haven't gotten the gig. It breaks the mantra--"No work is better than work for no money." People don't value what they don't pay for. Live it, amigos!

I was just saying that to look like Paco, you have to do the infamous "comb over". This means if you are balding, you comb the hair from one side to the other, to cover up the bald spot. I heard that there was a guitar player from Russia who called himself "Paco de Rusia." Supposedly Paco thought this was amusing, but said the guy had nice hair, and shouldn't try to copy his hair style.

Hey Henrik,
I never realized you were a skinhead. I'd always imagined you looking like Borg the tennis player.
(All the Scandanavians I knew when I was young had long blonde hair and a "bum fluff" beard and moustache. )

What is it with you guys that makes you hate having hair?
You'll get there soon enough without a haircut!!

well Ron. I don´t have a lot of hair to ware.
And to be called a skinhead in sweden is the same as a being a Nazi.

Okay, I saw it, Ron. Amir looks like he's ready to throw off his disguise as mortal man and become a diablo! And Henrik, man I assumed you would have long blonde locks, a big Thor-like beard, and even have a hammer lying on the table. Yes, it's sad to say, this is what we Americans think of Scandinavians. I uploaded my picture too. Well, it's my business card, I hope Simon doesn't junk it as an "unsolicited solicitation."

funny i hardly know any swedes with long blond hair and beards.
If any it ought to be Black or brown hair . very long. We´re really into death metal over here
