RE: some homemade cejillas. (in reply to gj Michelob)
Nice job on the cejilla project! I've never made a cejilla, but have always modified them. Instead of using rubber tubing, or a separate piece of leather to protect the neck, I use a single piece of leather to go against the strings and wrap around the neck.[image][/image]

Those are very nice. The one piece of leather glued to the bottom of the cejilla and wrapping around the neck, is the original design, which dates back quite some time. I have found that a piece of rubber on the bottom of the cejilla grips the strings much better.

i used my cejillas all day today. success! the ex-dildo one slipped a bit because i think i sanded the peg too much but it fixed itself. they're not as fast to put on as a dunlop but they just look so much cooler and feels so much more flamenco. i'm hooked.
thanks to all those who gave me advice.

thank you gj, i am not ready for a guitar yet. i'm totally jealous of andy's self mdae guitar. maybe i'll make a foot stool or piano bench.
nice collection jaquarda! i like the diamond one. i'd like to make an elegant one or a laminated one like nick's next. i wouldn't know where to start though.
alright come on people, let's see your cejilla collection! gj, don't you have a few from keith?

hey i made my own cejilla too its kind of bulky I made it from Mahogany. It works fine though and it pleases me to look at it since I made it. How do you make the pegs so uniform?
RE: some homemade cejillas. (in reply to gj Michelob)
Welcome to the world of Cejilla construction. They look good. Good job. Did you ream the hole to match the taper on the pegs? The will slip if you don't. I made quite a few with the top peg to decrease the profile. You will find the forces are slightly different and the peg tends to bind a lot, so it's a little more difficult to operate.. Now your next step is to sell some.....good luck.
