??? Whats that? Oh i like Bach! But to me he is flamenco anyway. I like some Portishead, Air, Massive Attack. They make electronic music, but not that techno thing. I was into slow blues for one or two weeks. But i have to be in the mood for that. Sometimes its funny how they accompany singers, it reminds me of flamenco when they do these licks during the breaks. Oh sorry i am drifting to flamenco again

Actually, that makes a lot of sense to me. The blues is like the Flamenco of the US. OR is it that Flamenco is like the Blues of Spain? The similarities are obvious.
1. Music of an oppressed people. 2. Roots back to the mother country - In both cases Africa and or the Middle east. 3. Guitar driven music. 4. Various styles. 5. An improvisational musical form. The similarities go on and on.

Electric Rock- Paul Gilbert, super versitile in many genres and a great teacher. Nuno Bettencourt also has special take on rhythm.
General non flamenco guitarist: John Mclaughlin, although that goes for electric and acoustic. I used to be into Django too, amazing improviser.
Acoustic singer-I used to like the Indigo Girls but don't follow em anymore. I like the first Jewel too when she was just her and her guitar.

Favourite non flamenco-musicans/composers: - john abercrombie - marc ribot - j. s. bach - john coltrane
my biggest highlights in 2009: i'd like to mention John Dowland (1563 - 1626) he wrote music for lute and other instr., i recommand listening his fantasies for those who want to do a little classical trip, don't have enough superlatives to describe this music, it's simply awesome, way ahead of the times. and last but not least roberta flack live at rheno (not sure about spelling) one of my favourite motown albums now! no words to describe the mood, just listen

Favourite Electric Guitarist: Don't really have one. I Like lots of rock and indie, but not really keen on flashy playing. I prefer simple songs with a nice structure.
Best music for any mood: I think Jamiroquai are good to listen to. Nice and funky. Cheers me up when I'm sad, makes me happier when already happy.
Favourite Singer Songwriter: Ray LaMontagne - has a very soothing voice and is great live.

Cool Deniz. Besides Flamenco and jazz, it's Bach for me.
Flamenco and Blues is a great subject. Last month, I joined as drummer for a new band that plays SRV, Hendrix blues, and other R&B classics. This was something I hadn't done since I was a kid growing up on Led Zep. Slow blues is something I don't normally listen to much either, but playing it in ensemble with a rocking female voice is pretty cool.
