Ahhh the beauty of online translators

I wonder if Child Ricardo also played on a 52 mm scale. He really must have been small.

Before any fantasy of buying a great Conde for less than it's true value develops, I'll share this.

I contacted Javier when he listed this guitar a few weeks ago. Although there is no reserve on the ebay auction, he told me he won't let it go for less than it's value (contact him if you want to find out what he thinks that is, I think it's a fair price), but maybe as it didn't make that before he may be open to an offer?

This goes out to all the "Conde Experts":

What the hell is a "Faustino Conde"?

Is it a Conde or Esteso that was actually built by him? And if so, how can one tell?

Or is it a Conde or Esteso that was built and has a signed label while he was alive?

Also, is there such a thing as a "Mariano Conde" or a "Julio Conde" as well and if so why don't we hear of those?

I like "good" Condes and Estesos quite a bit, but all of this "Faustino" talk seems a bit unclear to me. What makes them so special?

Seems to me it is all a marketing angle to try and get as much as possible.

Thank you

I've seen ebay listings of guitars used by Javier before, but I thought his father was the seller and that Javier wasn't directly involved.

My feeling is it is the same as a "jose Ramirez" III, meaning, Faustino designed these guitars and that is what mattered. In a documentary vid from 1964 he was like walking around watching the other two guys building the guitars, mainly Mariano it seemed. Could be they had even more builders, maybe even outside madrid considering how many were made. In any event there are more collectable and more expensive guitars that IMO, are not as good for flamenco as these babies.

Jeez,

Could you imagine having to work under these conditions?

Just you and your colleage working away busily with saws and chisels and sweating and working to the utmost precision, while some guy in a brown coat walked about observing you both to make sure it was up to his standards.

I'm sure Anders, Aaron, Stephen etc are not extreme politically active socialists...

But I bet they would have broken the guitars over the bastard's head!

(Take this job and shove it...I aint workin' here no more! )

cheers,

Ron

If you want it cheap...you could use the ebay cheat... Its lame but ebay doesnt change it because of several reasons..so its legal. I saw it in a recent television report.

You need 2 PCs with a separate ip. You log in with both under an individual account. With one of em you bid a low price and directly afterwards with the other one an extremely high price which nobody else would overbid coz its would be ridiculous. Than very close before the end of the selling process you cancel your very high bid and the other pc with the idiotic very low price gets the product. Nobody else will have a chance to bid before the end, you get it automatically.

So,... happy buying and much fun with this guitar of a few bucks... LOL

what do we learn from that? Dont sell an expensive guitar on ebay you could get cheated.

This was my feeling as well. Just curious as to what a "Faustino Conde" was since the Condes from the early 60's up to his death in the late 80's changed- plantilla shape, bracing, headstock shape, etc. I guess they are all "Faustino Condes" and he (or he and the two brothers?) just changed things over time.

There are many great flamenco guitars by many different builders in and out of Spain. However, I agree that Condes have a unique sound and feel that just are very "Flamenco".

Thanks

You need permission from the seller to retract a bid. Doit, I don't see how this could work...

You could say that you are Dr.Ngymno of the Nigerian Government and are currently awaiting your late father's assets to be transferred to the USA...but there has been a bit of a hold up...and perhaps you could be of assistance?

cheers,

Ron
