No, it is not, Val. Sorry. When you chose to use the word "dream", in your “can my dream come true?” title, as opposed to plan or program, I believe you subconsciously conceded its wonderfully unlikely odds. The proposal –I am quite certain- intrigues us all, while many might have even already entertained making similar suggestions, but dismissed before they even started typing the word 'dream".
I am still waiting on Spain’s Ministry to second one of our challenges on the Forum, perhaps the Ministry’s recognition of this Forum will arouse interest in travelling to a location (I think Spain would be a more proper venue) and a reunion could then be organized.
But your dream sounds lovely; I allowed it to spin images of what it would be like… and it would be great!!
Alright, now i feel ultra guilty, Val. I will come if at least the nearby Scots, Ron, Jim and Simon, make it. If the Americans join... well that "sleeping giant" would be the winnning force (sounds more like we are planning D day).
I would be interested in this for next year. If I were to come, it would almost certainly be with my wife and son who will be 12. My wife dances as a beginner (2 + years experience) so she would be definitely involved. I would want some guitar stuff obviously...
So if it was near the end of June that would be perfect, as kids are out of school - and it would nice if other children were around.
What cities or areas are nearby? How far away is Provence? I would bring my bicycle also!
sounds sublime , thats exactly the type of france expierence id love together with a nice french wine , and the sounds of live gypsy music (thinking Django), yet ill settle for the great Bireli lagrene
I have more confidence on Val's dream than this one.
never say never...spanish government are giving us a grant...to bring lead dancer Paloma from Nuevo ballent National de Espana to come here and do some workshops and performances with us..if someone told me that was going to happen 2 months ago i would have loughed at them cause it sounds so far fetched and unlikely
sometimes things just happen...belive...u never know...Val that sounds great too..good luck with it i hope it works out great..if and when u get it all organised give me some info and il post a bulletin on my myspace page i have a few flamencos from france as friends..u never know..might get a couple of extra bookings...or il introduce you and u can talk it out with them...if u can get some local flamenco schools and flamencos support u have a greater chance of succes maybe it can become like a mini flamenco festival...dont dream it ...u can do it..get on myspaace , get the phonebook out get in touch with a few flamenco schools there too...build it and they will come...make a show of it, workshops advertise it like an event etc..its fully doable
I have more confidence on Val's dream than this one.
You may legitimately be skeptical, Shroomy. It is an ambitious plan [to have Spain’s ministry of culture recognize our efforts here, in any form or way]. I haven’t given up hopes, yet, particularly after its office preliminary reply [which I did not feel it was appropriate to share] which was quite enthusiastic.
The difference with Val’s (yet lovely) proposal is that, however farfetched the hope that such office would look favorably upon this forum’s challenge, it requires the “act” of one individual.
If Florian and I were trying to meet, it would not be so complicated, save for the distance which separates us, because One would need to get on a plane.
Conversely, when trying to gather the Forum around and expensive proposition (further complicated by individual distances, schedules and needs) I would dare to suspect that it may be nearly impossible to achieve.
But I regret my honesty about it, as your reply carried a degree of hostility (which I realized I caused by being so disagreeably blunt). Sorry about it, I trust you know I love this forum and its members, and few things would give me such satisfaction as any improvement in our relations.

Yes you are right gj. We tried to organise something for last year, a Foro annual meet in Andalucia, and of course it was just too difficult for people to commit.
But what I have in mind wouldn't just be open to Foro members, but any like-minded flamencos. I have a list of guitar students that might be interested and I'm sure Val has dance contacts.
We girls can be very dynamic when we decide to be, so watch and learn, gj!
I have actualy thougt about it, inviting all the forum members to my home to see each othter just for once. Oke, i must admit that I wanted to see how ToddK and Edgar884 would get along but never the less its a nice idea to actualy meet those we read from and write to so often.
But I live in Holland with a lot of rain and we have to sleep in tents, so thats not realy an option.
But I would seriously consider going to france for this Val.
it already looks like the dream is starting to unfold into an executable idea. can i request that it'll happen a couple of years from now so i can save up the money?
I think it's your reply that carried a bit of hostility
No... not hostility, just regret.
Now, Dear Val, I think we all agree that organizing a jovial reunion of Flamencos is a wonderful idea. But it does (i) take an enormous effort (as you relaize) to be (ii) possibly ill-rewarded by many enthusiastic replies which will eventually prove unrealistic.
When I -with Flo and Ailsa- tried to organize a forum's fund, a member pm'd me to remind me of how all say "I will buy your CD" when a memember announces its release, but ultimately very few will really do so. I think that that priavetely communicated Jiminy Cricket's message, prompted me to doubt the success you envisioned for your dream.
However, we should not discard the "dream" that one day we can actually meet in person at a festivity we will organize.
And if not all at once, I personally would love to meet many of you, as I met RiceCracker and found him and the experience wonderful.
With much more affection than my earlier message might have shown, I hug you dearly, gj
