You should have disclaimed your thread: “not for the faint of heart or the arachnophobic”.. I will have nightmares!!!
When I vacationed in Mexico, I remember a small congregation of portly tarantulas gathering undisturbed on the lower walls of my room … well it was my room for about 12 seconds, counting on twelve. Even though we moved to a different and possibly hygienically superior hotel, I remained sleeplessly alert and vigilant for two nights. I fell asleep at the dinner table, while eating lobsters on the third night and hurriedly evacuated the city at dusk.
i have no problem admitting that i freaking hate bugs. the bigger and the more exotic, the more i hate them. i can remember summers in the countryside in korea seeing some big mothers just flying into my grandfathers house.
i was at a resort in the mexican riviera last year on a shoot and i woke up and went to the shower and said hello to three huge hairy spiders camping out in the shower. i screamed like a little girl and killed them with a towel and left the carnage for the poor maid.
OMG you guys are wimps! When I was backpacking in India I stayed at a beautiful and quite upmarket hotel one night as a treat. It was situated on a tiny island and my boyfriend and I thought it was very romantic
When I went to the bathroom I noticed some scrape marks on a bar of soap but dismissed it.
In the middle of the night I woke to see a rat sitting on my chest staring me in the eye. Needless to say I didn't sleep the rest of the night either.
The worst thing is that I had this picture in my mind of all these rats crouching around the bed, watching! Sort of spoilt the romantic moment really
ORIGINAL: Shroomy726 What sucks is waking up in the middle of the night with one of them inside your mouth!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHH!!!
Also, in Argentina we have this type of cockroach which is called "Vinchuca" and crawls in your face while you sleep, it bites the soft tissue of your face and sucks your blood, then defecates in the wound due to its full intestine.
dang, shroomy wins big time though i have chewed a roach in my sleep.
rats and mice i'm fine with. but when bugs get big enough that they start having personalities and can speak english, that's when i have to crush them.
El_Flaco, I hope you keep your guitars in their case! Imagine if you're practicing and suddenly that thing comes out of the soundhole!!
Now did that gecko get planted in top of your guitar or it got there on its own??
Oh, didn't think about the soundhole, but I've never had any problems with that. But, just in case, I do smack my shoes around in case anything decided to sleep there.
In regards to the gecko, we've had a baby gecko running in & out of our place. One day he just sits on top of my guitar and so he stays still for the photo shoot.

"Vinchuca"
I've heard of those. Nica has some as well, but they reside in old adobe buildings. I think they also call it the kissing bug? But that could be something else too
