picado me

I had a classical teacher who had me start the picado sequence newly for each string, in other words if you were going up the strings it would be like im i m i string and then if you went to b say you started with im again. Versus, im i (b) m i etc. Ifthat makes sense. There seems to be some different opinion on that here, as what I'm reading suggests playing im, m, and then continuing with i m sequentially. And this guy was trained in Austria and studied in NY with Fisk and is blazing fast so I can assume he know what he is talking about ! (Unless I got it wrong)
