I have a long speech below that I was typing up when the drama started, so I thought I’d say a few words on that subject first. gj Michelob: I am positive that everyone here appreciates your (and Irene’s) contributions. It is a wonderful thing when people go out of their way to do something for others. I am certain that you read more into Ron’s message than he had intended to convey. Even if you didn’t, Ron is just one man. This forum is made up of hundreds if not thousands. In a setting like this, the community matters, not individual opinions. Your contributions are to the community and, as always, not everyone will be satisfied. This has to be accepted as part of human nature. Without further ado, here is my now somewhat bittersweet, acceptance speech. Thanks everyone! First of all I want to thank Florian and gj Michelob for organizing and conducting this challenge, as well as Jason and the anonymous capo contributor for the prizes. It was a great and well-executed idea. This is the kind of thing that elevates an anonymous online meeting place to a real community. I hope that this is just the beginning of a regular feature on this forum. <music starts playing quietly> Second, I want to thank all the judges for their feedback. This was my primary motivation for jumping into this at the last minute. Every criticism was spot on and I now know exactly what I need to work on for the next couple of months. I don’t know what Ron was drinking when he listened to my entry, but I thank him for momentarily (over)inflating my ego Next, I want to thank my fellow contestants. Without you there would not be a competition. Obviously we are all on slightly different levels, so it is very hard to judge fairly. I can tell that everyone worked hard and I am very impressed with all of your entries. In particular, when I listened to Aleksi’s, I thought he had me beat for sure in terms of flamenco vibe (sound, aire). <loud music> Finally, I want to thank all the members for making this a real community. It is rare to encounter such a combination of expertise, passion, and willingness to contribute. I can not believe that I waited so long to participate. I’ve only been active here for two weeks, but I feel that I have already improved more than I had in the previous 6 months. I look forward to actively participating. <pulled off stage> Ole!

My complaint is that the Beginner's Challenge has been handled somewhat shoddily in comparison to the Intermediate Challenge. Nobody was quite sure if they were judging or not and although the judging closed at 10am NY time, it is now almost 20.00 GMT and no final results have been posted. Would this be acceptable in the Advanced Challenge? cheers, Ron Fair enough ... its my fault i shouldnt have said feel free to complain lol i meant..if you feel you were scored wrong Ron the problem is , you have been spoiled ..the intermediate was oraganized too good ( if i may say so myself it was text book)...went too perfect and this just went normal..i gues the deadlines were too close togheder, yes i was a litlle bit spent out, sorry couldnt help it, i tried to hide it and make myself snap out of it, i knew that the members that put in all the practice deserved my full enthusiasm and energy......i recomended a way longher brake between the deadlines so that everyone involved had a litlle time to recover, relax, get reorganized..when i was setting them, but members involved insisted that they would lose the momentum.....so i didnt push the issue..i should have but i only susspected this would happen, i didnt know for sure No stuff like this probably wont be acceptable in the advanced because whomever organizes has the luxury of watching someone do it before them and take the good stuff and leave out the mistakes..its alot eazyer to know where you going when you been there once or twice before we were the test monkies in space lol.. Ron i wish you had stoped, taken a second before you made that post and take a look around you, look at the new posts and new threads, think of the effort that was put in ( for weeks both Michelob and myself went way our of our way, for weeks now, organizing, planing, pming judges, asking judges, reminding judges.. chasing prizes, not just a couple of days).. balance out in your head the benefit of your comment....vs what was achived, all you have to do is take a look around you to see that.. but i know you didnt mean it as harshly as Michelob seems to have taken it, i just wish that you took a second and analyzed what good can come out of it thats all Michelob is not used to your bluntness.. I hope you explain that...atleast to him You did great Michelob, thank you very much, i appreciated you help so so much ! dont you take the blame lol...if anyone deserves the blame it was me I am sorry i was out when this was happening or i would have jumped right in and taken all the blame, spare you whatever you might have had to read that upset you..? rons critique was directed am me amigo, you were just helping me out, i accept full responserliberty honest ... you were absoluteley spot on everytime, u have more then exceeded you duties by 150%, thank you amigo and ofcourse thank you Irene. I would be heartborken if you left.. Also whomever questioned Michelobs dedication ( if anyone?) should be aware that he is the silent sponsor that out of the kindness of his heart donated..the Cejilas and postage...for the winner of Beginner and Intermediate and Advanced, before anyone else donated anything..and for absoluteley no benefit to himself since he inssisted that he didnt wanna be credited for it.. about $80 each plus postage thats around $300 ..thats generosity in its finest and purest form..and again it wasent to score points with anyone...he inssisted i didnt tell anyone it was him for Absoluteley no reason but to see you all happy, he inspired me to do this challenge better than i ever would have without him I am sorry i know you didnt want me to tell people but i felt it needed to be said ...under the circumstances At the end of the day what really happened ? one or 2 judges werent sure if they were judging..they were all informed about 10 times that they are judging the intermediate and the beginner..including at the very end of the intermediate scores thread...only about 2 or 3 days before this was uploaded..i didnt have time to send everysingle one another pm ..figured 2 or 3 days is not that long to remember..and most did and the scores went up a few hours late...so what, big deal, this is not the olimpics, some things came up ...it happens.. Congratulation to the members taking part..well done, all of you...thank you to the judges, speciall thank you to Jason and Michelob Congratulations ALex and Aleksi Alex...that was a beautiful speach amigo..you are a true gentleman and champion, your humbleness is an inspiration to me on a personal level... OLE TO YOU all of you were absoluteley great, good sports, encouraging to eachother, humble, and just a pleasure to watch the way you interact with eachother..you have all brought with you the nice fresh new athomsphere and attitude this forum should stride allways for..you are a great addition when it comes to the way u interact with eachother and encourage and lift eachother...as far as i am concerned you guys are the advanced...and I and perhaps few others ? will sitt and learn from you thank you

This is how I read it as well and I didn´t find it to be to harsh or anything else. Do we have a cultural problem here? Those of us with genes in to the rude North sea are known to be VERY direct in our laguage i didnt think it was that harsh either and and i know Ron didnt direct it at anyone specific however Michelob and I were the only ones organizing it lol..its just nice to have him make an effort to put Michelob and Irene at eaze..Irene is a guest who dosent know us but has gonne out of her way putting an effort in to help us..we could look a tad bit ungrateful...however you read it and wherever you are from.. She dosent owe us anything and she dosent know Ron or how blunt he is all she knows is that she did all this stuff for us, renamed files, uploaded it thats probably not in her job description and looks back in and sees some of us complain like spoiled litlle children ( see..i can do blunt too ) blunt is eazy, anyone can do it..taking time to proprelly analize the situation, balance it in your head, weigh in the possible outcome, getting your point across and the desired effect out of people without even risking them beeing made to feel bad in anyway ...but they wanna do it with a smile on their face..takes a litlle more skill Beginners didnt get second treatment because they were beginners they got it because they were the second ones in the cycle if anything...but i dont think they did.. sure my drive wasent recuperated ...but they got the same treatment absoluteley the same conditions, same prizes, same judges, took approx the same amount of time to score them 3 days, got more feedback from judges.. so it took a few hours extra to put the scores up because of work...seems to me like absoluteley everyone who should be indisposed seems to be understanding of that ....its not like the scores were hidden and someone just dying to know the scores and couldnt wait for us couldnt find out, they have been here all along lol..i bet everyone in the challenge added up their scores way before the deadline even came..i know i would the only reason the Intermediate was rushed in that part of it was because we had the deadline to meet so that it didnt interfear with this.. we were more comfortable on time on this one.... quote:
If I had been a competitor, I'd have felt that I was getting third rate treatment because I was only a beginner and should just shut up and be grateful for anything I might receive. well if i was a competitor, i would appreciate the work and hours ( took me 3 hours of messing around just to make the handwritting on Herreros Tablature more readable in paint shop pro...number by number and that was just one instance) and planning and prizes, motivation and feedback, and judging, the fun, the oportunity, the new addition to their repertoir and they seem to do, and i appreciate that our efforts are appreciated, so everyone is happy..so theres no need to make a problem where there isnt one theres no need to end it on a negative note for no reason.. everything that was set out was achived sometimes things in life dont always go as planned, big deal..you deal with it .. you work with what you have you dont turn around and start pointing fingers at those that have tried to do something for you.. anyway i am runing late for a gig and i dont know how to get there as you say cheers anyway i am not mad or upset but if it was me i would have exercised a different approach..if i feeld strongly about this i woild have made it as a suggestion in pm so that it dosent embarass the guy. or waited till the next challenge and make it as something to plan for instead of in a place where theres nothing anyone can do about it anymore.. and nothing good can come of it..the only thing possible that might come of it is that someone migh unecesarely get offended..take the scenario, circumstances, think a few steps ahead not just the imediate next step the only thing that was achived is that Michelob feels unapreciated and it wil probably be a long time before any of us go out of our way again ... quote:
Florian, I agree with you and I wasn´t thinking about stopping anything of course. I just felt that Doits post was very relevant. thats fine, i said the same thing as you and Doit but that was before i realised how driven and motivated and organized they were ..and also how comited Ailisa was to it..so now i just take a step back and admire them..and encourage and help however i can
