Jon, You should have asked her if she wanted the more traditional Julio Iglesias' version or the modern GypsyKings' version. I'm sitting here laughing imagining the look on your face. But, I guess we have to be tolerant. Most people don't know the difference between Flamenco and a big pink bird. It's frustrating, but understandable when you think about it. However, when you get some uppity know-it-all who makes a fool of themself it becomes kind of funny. Phil
PS. Could you play the traditional Flamenco song "Besa Mi Mucho"?
Paco de Lucia and Ramon de Algeciras did a nice job on "Beso me Mucho" in a "12 Greatest Hits" album I bought back in the late 60's. Also a "cool" rendicion of "Jealosy" and "Que Sera Sera"!

A good guitar might be a good guitar But it takes a woman to break your heart
My wife was working with a Spanish Lady who ran her home one night. My wife introduced us and I threw in my greeting in Spanish " El gusto is mio" etc etc. The woman beamed and said; "Hey, I even have my flamenco tape with me". She proudly dived into the glove compartment and produced it with a flourish. I nodded dumbly with a strangled smile as I gazed at the "GypsyKings live in concert". It was pointless to say anything.
