i got me some time to try and record...i have one loop which is around 208 i think and it's nice, feels good to play the falseta at this speed and the tone sounds fine too...
but i also have palmas tracks that are faster than that and come closer to the original recording in terms of speed, 230-240-ish...i can play it, but it doesn't sound that good, it feels too rushed as my technique is not as good as Moraíto's, unfortunately...not unclear, just not as nice...
any advices if i should play it safe with slower or go for the real thing? maybe send two versions?
bit of a dilemma :)

I'd vote for the slower, but cleaner, more grooving recording anyday.[;)]

Best of luck!!![:)]

Yup...I would too!

Speed is only impressive when you've got everything down really well and smoothly executed IMO.

cheers,

Ron

JH, i am not a judge on this challange, but plainly the mail-box for submissions. However, i do not believe i should receive more than one version per person.

I suggest you should simply go with the recording you feel and like, not the one you guess may impress the judges more, as after all, they are just like you and chances are they will appreciate your work as you will... and on that note i couldn't agree more with Todd and Ron's advice.

this sounds like a super hero story where something goes wrong in the lab and the guy ends up with super powers. let us know if you develop any powers.
and also, if you decide to be an evil villain or super hero.

Hahaha... Well,... Now I think to know where Darth maul got his red skin from.... Maybe hot chemicals?? Indeed I increased my 10 finger typing speed over 40% till Friday... hehehe![:D]

By the way, I´m a judge, too! And don't want to miss to check the audios! So please dont forget to inform me, if I can't find the link or thread for downloading the audios! And,... how did we vote again?
(EDIT: found it: Aire, compas, technis)

BUT do we vote with points or just putting the challengers in an order beginning from the best one... IMO points would fit better, because one has a weakness with timing but a good technic and the other one vise versa.. Than they should be even and not subjectively judged...

:) well, it's all in good fun. Anyway, I've known about this challenge for about a week now. More time would be great, but the time crunch makes for great practice motivation!
