Well, maybe I don't, but I think I do. I could figure out what the guy you posted is playing, although I probably couldn't play most of it as well as he does-The guy is a very good player. i'm not saying the other guy playing the paco stuff is better, in fact he may not be. But , the idea that it's harder to play something simple perfectly is harder than to play something more difficult not as well is something that is not an absolute IMO.

@koella: You said "I'm no purist. But the PDL figure just showed how he got down the notes very well."

I didnt understand that. I mean, what is wrong in being able to play many complex notes?

When he does only show that and nothing more, I think it's very wrong ( musically speaking ) and has nothing to do do with flamenco spirit. Be it old or modern.

I think they both good too, i think we are beeing a litlle overcritical for absoluteley no reason, the guy is someone just like us learning uploading videos whatever, I am sure he didnt do it to offend anyone here.

I am of the opinion that u always need to push your abilities to the limit and try harder things, some might dissagree, but i think to improve you should always try a litlle beyond your reach. not a lot just a litlle.

with enough time absoluteley anything is doable

Grisha and Ricardo didnt get to the level they are at by only doing stuff they can comfortably do.

koella -> RE: Some guy playing ANTONIA (PdL) !!! (Apr. 2 2007 9:41:29)

Yes of course Flo. You are right. He can play very well. What are we nitpicking and vinagre pissing here. Maybe it was the way this video was presented here.

Florian -> RE: Some guy playing ANTONIA (PdL) !!! (Apr. 2 2007 12:04:19)

fair enough Koella i have done it myself so i gues i cant really talk, i reacted oposite just because of the way it was presented.

just as long as we dont get carried away with it , i mean if you listen to something looking for mistakes unless its a comerciall cd you Will find em.

And il bet anything that the guy probably plays the hole thing alot better now, if hes anything like me ( and i know a few people are) and gets excited about a falseta at the start, and tapes himself the second he just started to play it ofcourse there might be some mistakes, but after 2 weeks of playing it it wont always remain like that.

Also I have seen Paco play bum notes and fluf notes on concert videos, noone is above it.

XXX -> RE: Some guy playing ANTONIA (PdL) !!! (Apr. 2 2007 12:18:11)

Koella, please forgive me that i liked that video, ok? [;)] Next time i will ask you for permittion [8|]

Bikhyal did the most intelligent decision in this topic, which is to NOT discuss. I will try to do the same. But it was also interesting: i didnt know that Antonia and maybe Cositas Buenas are not Flamenco. Now i know [:D][:-]

Peace!

koella -> RE: Some guy playing ANTONIA (PdL) !!! (Apr. 2 2007 13:58:55)

Don't u turn things around. Maybe notes are supposed to be played a certain way to let it become flamenco. You know, like Paco does on Cositas Buenas.
