Here is a short video uploaded on my icloud link

My rasgueado is bad and needs lots of work, but the video shows how I fire my fingers. I am really not sure if this is ok or not, though it does feel very natural to me to have fingers like this when it comes to their spreading (in other words I am not doing this on purpose). If I'm not doing it good, well then there's more work for me to do :)

From your video, Does your hand feel relaxed? When I separate my fingers like you I feel excess tension in the tendons in my hand. Although our anatomy is different. I would focus on developing separation of each downstroke with control and attack. One finger at a time. With time you will develop more control in your hand. I’m sure Dr. Ricardo will weigh in with a proper prescription.

It will be ok but you need to practice not moving the entire hand so much, only fingers, and focus on timing by starting UP with i first.

I up a m i... iami...iami.... etc. 4 even notes, you can feel the first three as a triplet and the 4th , the i down stroke, is on the beat.

It feels relaxed, it’s like natural for me and I don’t feel any tension. The separation of downstrokes makes sense to me, I don’t have good control in the fingers at all.

All right, I was not sure about the hand movement. Practicing by starting with I up is very good exercise I think, you also recommended it one other post, and I’m going to also start doing it with a beat. I did only one such exercise the other day, basically when I started working on rasgueado again.

Thanks a lot for these tips guys, hopefully I will be able to show you some progress soon :)

Cheers

You might try resting your thumb on the 6th string while practicing. That should help with your hand movements.

Cheers
