Excited for this trip and to meet you folks, but with my low shoulder mobility guitar playing is proving to be a struggle. Can manage a few minutes in the traditional flamenco position, and classical guitar position is almost manageable, so maybe I should sign up for the cante class! Flying into Jerez on 12th, out from Seville on the 19th. Los Helechos booked up until the 17th then whatever cheap hotel I can find for the last 2 nights.

Went to too many thumping bass heavy raves over the past decades it seems. I enjoy softer more acoustic performances where i don’t have to wear ear protection. Went to see Radiohead last autumn and fell asleep as it sounded dull to my ears… in fair, they were pretty dull anyway! What treatment did you try stu? Acupuncture seemed to help for me, this was about 6 years ago though.

[:D] There's a good chance I was stood next to you in front of a speaker or two![;)] and i often thought the dudes at raves with ear plugs were a bit weird....think they were probably the smart ones![:(] Ive has 3 steroid jabs into the eardrum. but no joy. doing another mri scan then possbily hearing aids....but probably gnna look into non mainstream remedies soonish. I struggle in places with cacophony of sounds. hoping the fiestas in sanlucar are managebale and enjoyable and not ruined by my lame ear. looking forward to this trip too! cant wait. I will be in seville from 10th to 12th.chillin then heading to sanlucar for welcome do on the 13th. meeting a gang in seville may be more tricky now as I have family in tow.!

Flying on Friday afternoon. I'll be arrivng in Sanlucar on sunday afternoon and once in my accom ill be heading straight to the plaza to Balbinos for bowl of salmorejo, a beer and soak up some vibes. ..... little meet up in the plaza? Harry I will recognise you and ddias...but beno... drop me a DM and we can all hook up! Anyone heard who might be playing this year in the Tuesday eve concert? I think it was Dani de moron last year.

One of the coolest things about the DVD reissue of the Rito series was the Caracol episode intro there is an awkward silence on the original as they scan over Caracol's property where the juerga takes place, and someone filled that in with Gerardo's tremolo from his Granaina. He says nothing about Alejandro Hurtado so I guess that plan fell through. Alvaro Martinete concert Tuesday and Diego del Morao Thursday.

it was a great week of fun and flamenco. i did antonio carrion's cante course in the evening 5-7pm. learnt al of new things and gonna focus on a few of the cante de levante and toques libres for the next few months. focus of class every day was Solea. great variety of people on the course and the cante people joined us on thursday & friday to practice together. concerts were alvaro martinete and jose manuel leon...some phenomenal playing and musicianmanship. took my youngfella along this year, and did quiet a few touristy things in jerez, cadiz and sanlucar. he enjoyed it and got to hang out and see some flamenco, and the lads were impressed by some of his playing on the guitar, some japanese traditional music and french medieval music. hope to make it again in 2027

Yeah I was in sevilla. but had early flight on monday morning and had my kids with me so watched some in hotel then ET from our beds. was so tired after week of fiestas and swimming and flamenco. (and a day at water park doing slides and the like!) heard the celebrations until the early morn. Luckily my bad ear helped me stay asleep more than my wife did! Was a really nice week, but from a personal pov I ended feeling a bit empty. had family so coud immerse in flamenco and night lfe as much as had in the past and also didnt get the full family vibes as was doing classes and evening shows...kinda stuck between the two a little. Was realy nice to meet some new foro guys (ddias, beno) and meet up with some old foro friends from previous sanlucars ....Harry, burcshe and Pimientito I did Gerardos course for 1st time since 2013. hes still teaching the same stuff....stuff i still never got round to properly learning....! so i felt mildly ashamed like I hadn't done the homework he'd set 13 years ago![:D] I boned up on some of his material before i went but he obviously ended up teaching the stuff I didnt study prior! [&:] It's always great to watch him up close and you kinda forget just how great player he is even with his lame index finger. thumb heavy material which is good cos my pulgar had a decent work out! The flamenco course vibe in Sanlucar was somewhat lacking. less students and even less youth! and Im not sure anyone ened up in contratiempo jamming til early doors. I noticed that even the local sanlucans, flamencos that would randomly (maybe) turn up and join the fin de fiesta didnt seem to be present either....[:(] Harry and I were reminiscing about days gone by..... practicing on helechos roof with dancers and percussionists etc... it just isnt happeing there now... We were thinking of organising a 40th year reunion! think that's in 2030. whos keen?[:D]

well, I was a first-timer, but I really enjoyed it, each moment. Seeing you guys there, the classes with Gerardo up close...and the evenings that turn into dawns.. Francisco Manuel Diaz a luthier from Granada also was there as a 'technical support', and during one of the classes he repaired a crack on the top of my guitar (actually it wasn't a crack, the glue tied the two parts of the top together stopped holding them together near the end block) and done it beautifully while lending me one of his guitars for the class.. I really enjoyed the concerts and the fiestas as well, hope to see everybody next year!
