Hi everyone! One of my luthier friends are fixing a Faustino Conde 1975. He made two holes on the top and he told me that he was adjusting the top curvature. I had never seen this way before. Is that correct and not harmful to the guitar?

Your friend's an @sshole.

Holly crap. That looks kinda brutal. Did that upper part of top seperate from neck block joint, collapsed or something? can you ask him what exactly he is doing? He is continuing cutting from that hole away. Removing part of top? Replacing brace? Lifting it?

He's removing the top.

Probably replacing it because there's tinted finish over the sticker.

WTAF?

Looks like someone took an angle grinder to the end of the fingerboard too.

Wow calm down gentlemen. Here are some pics of my friend’s work. He was removing the top off of a Mario Gropp and a Conde 2a. I think these guitars are all in trashy condition otherwise he will not do such things on these famous guitars.
I didn‘t mean to be rude to luthiers here. I am a confuser and want to learn knowledge of guitar.

Context counts. This is the luthiery section. Honestly, the first post comes across like a troll. I know you probably didn't intend it to be that.

I don't have a high opinion of what I'm seeing, I'll admit that.

This Faustino Conde was in bad condition. The top arched up and the saddle also flied away from the top. My friend told me that the top wood should be removed and adjust the radian. I am so confuse if the top can be installed at the original place

I understand that you didn't intend offense. I've edited out the harshest of my comments.

Oh good we can add new ones.

Whatever the luthier is doing, or the reason behind it, he is an idiot. That is science fact.

That’s not how to repair a valuable guitar no matter what’s wrong with it.

That’s straight up malpractice. Absolutely sheit fisted idiocy. Too late now, but this guy should be in a mental hospital.

He probably doesn’t know what the arching on a Faustino should look like and destroyed a piece of history. Whomsoever this person is shouldn’t be working on musical instruments. They are delusional and unqualified in the extreme. This is a major ethics failure.

Yes this is perfectly fine. When he’s done butchering it, walk it over to the nearest dumpster, throw it in and set the dumpster on fire.

So far you've only shown us the butcher's shop. Please post some photographs of the finished dish on the dinner table. Even better would be videos of the 'restored' guitars being played.

I am genuinely interested.

Guys calm down, please. I know it was not a good fixing, but I am so interested in the logic behind it.

This luthier’s fixing works were indeed rough. He used to fixed a Reyes and someone thought it was a fake one after listening to the sound.[:D]

Now I know that I should never send my guitar to his workshop.

I will upload as soon as I get new pics or videos

Firefrets -> RE: Is this the correct way to fix? (Nov. 10 2025 16:14:17)

Surely this is a prank thread.

silddx -> RE: Is this the correct way to fix? (Nov. 10 2025 16:17:54)

But the date is wrong.

Kinda fits with Hallowe'en I suppose.

hxwhf72752003 -> RE: Is this the correct way to fix? (Nov. 10 2025 16:20:58)

Absolutely no. I am seriously consulting. There is no need to prank[8|]

10 grands worth of guitars butchered on an ironing board.

Another question, why is your friend taking photos of this particular process? It's damn weird.

The more I look at this thread they seem more and more like hostage photos. Send me 1,800 dollars or the headstock is next.
