It took a little while but you already have two videos, one where we prepare the tools and see the rings that we are going to use to make our flamenco guitar and another that I will upload later because I am editing it right now, where we prepare our cypress rings ... ...... This so that you do not have to travel to Spain to learn to make guitars, making guitars is easier than making a child[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

Pali -> RE: Birdseye maple. (Dec. 21 2021 18:24:17)

Here you have the second video so that you can learn how to prepare and trim your flamenco guitar rings ...... if you have any questions, you can ask without problems.

Amigo, nice to see you. I was deathly afraid you were only wearing that apron in the shop, in the USA we would say 'commando" and that you were going to turn around ;)

Started out hot and dry for June and July 80-85f up here in Alaska but I feel its been raining every since. Still its not too bad in the shop, the dehumidifier is only making about three liters a day, last summer it was more like six liters to keep my shop at about 45% humidity. its pouring rain now as I type this.

Hi Hernandez, nice to see you, hahahahaha I'm not going to turn around hahahaha, how are you? did you recover well from your leg? I hope so, humor is not lacking hahahaha.

I envy your area to live, here in Córdoba it is becoming unbearable, we have not had rest and the temperature has been constant in values never seen before, the indoor thermometer was around 44-45 degrees, the nights unbearable....

Soon I will write to you so that you can advise me on a good home in your neighborhood and I will move there to live........I will not hesitate.....

ernandez R -> RE: Birdseye maple. (Aug. 20 2022 20:08:07)

it gets cold here you know, almost two meters of snow on the ground and -40f which is about the same as -40C You won't be rocking that shop apron commando but you won't be sweating ether! When your ready come on over, I'm serious, we have a simple bunkhouse for friends and family. Come over for a couple weeks or a month.

The foot is much better, about 80% but the more I use it the less I can use it, about 3-4 hours a day and I need to stop otherwise it is useless the next day. Just returned from a two week almost daily session with a specialist who was able to recover almost complete flexibility. There are a couple places in my metatarsals that are fused to negate arthritis and a few bars of titanium with a lot of screws.

Thank you very much for your offer and hospitality, my wife and I have never left the borders of Spain and I think it would be a great gift for her for the many years we have been together, I will consider it for the future and if I decide I will take you one of my best instruments in rosewood or cypress. Thanks again.

With regard to your foot, I only want to tell you to be patient, you have recovered a lot, I have seen many similar interventions and not all of them manage to recover as you are doing, in fact, there are many who have had to use crutches forever.
We are in contact and by the way I follow your constructions closely and I like it, especially that type of rosette, original where they exist.
the best.
Manuel

Yesterday I recorded this fun video testing out a repaired 2008 guitar, I changed the top but I put a special cedar one, frets, fingerboard, pegs...varnished.....as you know I'm not a flamenco player, I just read the sheet music so of compás...hahahaha maybe it won't go very well hahahahahaha....the sound I think is very good......

Ricardo -> RE: Birdseye maple. (Sep. 4 2022 17:05:19)

“I am not a flamenco player!”

Then proceeds to play Paco de Lucía’s Celosa in its entirety. [:D]

Bulerías needs some metronome work but the guitar sounds great.

Pali -> RE: Birdseye maple. (Sep. 4 2022 17:44:55)

Thanks Richard.
Yes, I know, I have noticed in the video that I am not going to beat and that I am playing (ad livitum) at will, at ease it is said here, I am sorry I did not say it in English.
Playing those bulerias to beat requires a lot of work and I'm a bit lazy, comfortable and not such a good guitarist for that hahaha. I am sincere and realistic.

It sounds very good for flamenco but for my taste it sounds too strong, the strings are too low and on top of that I have played pressing it hard to see how far the guitar is capable of reaching, perhaps my ear is used to the depth of classical music.

Soon we will see another two to see how they sound.......I will read something more by Paco de Lucía....although it is very difficult to interpret....or perhaps something older, Ramón Montoya, Mario Escudero........or all three.....we'll see.
This year I am very happy.
All the best.

Pali -> RE: Birdseye maple. (Jun. 27 2023 13:07:48)

What's up guys? How is everything? Reading a score by D. Ramon Montoya, you must remember that I am not flamenco hahahahaha, I only limit myself to reading and playing, not interpreting
