I remember reading somewhere that Grisha's new Devoe is Satinwood back and sides...

Echi -> RE: New Grisha concert video (Sep. 25 2018 19:29:46)

Yes, it’s clearly satinwood back and sides and spruce top. Satinwood is definetly a nice wood (you can check some data in wood database) and is renowned for have been used in some iconic guitars made by Francisco Simplicio.

Grisha, I think that the concert was great, I enjoyed watching and really thanks a lot for uploading! I also have to say that you've inspired me to learn one Rio de la Miel falseta (I am slow but learning it bit by bit), it sounds wonderful in this concert and after I heard it, it just got stuck in my head (and you start it by making a mistake and then get back to the beginning of it; making mistakes is human and it adds to the beauty of art, never subtracts in my opinion). Thanks!

Cheers

Thanks for the interview vid! It is pretty interesting.

At about 16:42 Grisha says that at one point he was unsure which path to take - to be a classical or a flamenco guitarist. And that there was a point when he basically said his goodbyes to friends "at an English-speaking flamenco forum" saying that he was going to focus on classical; and then he came back :-)

Surely this must have been here on foro flamenco. Does anyone recall when this happened?

There are many other interesting tidbits. So Paco de Lucia changed his life in 1986 when he saw him in concert and overnight he switched from classical to wanting to learn flamenco; he was 8 years old at the time. Talks about the palm trees on stage :-)

I can translate bits if there is interest; I am not Russian but understand the language..

Maybe around this time?

Hmmm, this goes to the middle of page 1 of a 'Metal Appreciation' thread here on the foro. Maybe just let me know what the time stamp is around which to translate (and length), from the interview video.

Sorry I did an all quote of your post... it is meant to respond to your question “Surely this must have been here on foro flamenco. Does anyone recall when this happened?”. I only recall that time .... his post was feb of 2007. He could be referring something else I don’t remember.

Mr Magenta who ever you are, you are my hero! great advice on that thread!

My only suggestion is: you need a good flamenco shirt, something a bit less formal but still well tailored, with some color. dressing is very personal, i know, but i actually think it would make your playing come across more vividly, help loosen up the ears of the listeners.. seriously..

I have enjoyed watching grisha's video. That is quite the playlist, it's like a greatest hits album. With age and some wisdom I have grown to enjoy another guitarists interpretation of a piece. The guitar used in this recording did have a 'peculiar' sound ( Pero para gustos, colores ).

Oops. I should have considered that possibility. Thanks for the link to that thread. BTW, I decided to learn how to add translations to a video on youtube, so I translated the first interview anyway. Right now Google is reviewing it [8|] not sure what that means or how long it would take.

I pretty much like all of Grisha's videos, man he play perfectly. Found some other video (in Russian) where he plays a few songs as well as interview. I like the sound of this one also and seems a little more natural sounding. Check it out.

Hey, guys, they finally published my English translation of Grisha's interview, so now you can watch it with English subtitles! The option is available under 'cc' and under 'setting'. Enjoy!

[There are a couple of mistakes here and there but hopefully it is clear what is meant - noticed some "I" vs "it" typos..]

Moloko -> RE: New Grisha concert video (Nov. 23 2018 0:11:36)

Amazing! thanks! [:)][:)]
