A slight twist on the marmite theme- In Japanese food you eat every day there's a concept called Gohan no Tomo - it comes from gohan which means rice and tomodachi which is friend. Gohan no tomo means "friends with rice". It is a way of saying rice with a rice intended condiment. This one on my rice is made from nori that cooked into pasty sauce. Like marmite, but uh, better. There is an other one called shio cara, with is sliced squid cured in salt, that may sound funky to you, but it is fantastic. There are many kinds gohan no tomo, sometimes it's just the juice for your chicken. I ain't got nuthin' against your vegemite or marmot farts, it's just that I've got a have **** ton of condiments for my rice. I have no shortage of Condi Rice, don't need no kangaroo jam.
