JasonM -> Antonio Rey: what song is this? (Oct. 19 2015 3:51:01)

http://youtu.be/sdPvrbcpy6Y

Starting at 50 seconds. I heard him say "tema" and that's one of three words I understood. So is it maybe part of a piece on a new album?

Leñador -> RE: Antonio Rey: what song is this? (Oct. 19 2015 3:57:53)

I didn't hear him mention a song name.... He seemed to just be talking about the amplification system and its benefits the whole time....

He is only demoing the transducer apmlification system....the tune is typical type of waltzy or bolero type intro a la Vicente he has been using a lot lately. Very nice material, but you know flamenco players at his level are always noodling with cool things that never make to a CD anyway.

Ricardo

JasonM -> RE: Antonio Rey: what song is this? (Oct. 19 2015 17:39:27)

Sistema...oh... Thanks that makes more sense.

Ricardo, I thought it was kinda catchy, simplistic, nothing to get crazy over. but also wasn't sure if he had a ~new album coming out soon or if it was just a noodler like you said. Thanks for the info.

It's amazing how good a Reyes can sound on even a crappy quality video. Thought I rememberhearing reverb too though

JasonM -> RE: Antonio Rey: what song is this? (Oct. 19 2015 17:53:23)

Len, he must have been talking about how He regrets having it installed on his Reyes right?

Leñador -> RE: Antonio Rey: what song is this? (Oct. 19 2015 18:01:50)

Lol no he really likes it. Says you don't have to modify/damage the guitar to install it. Top or sides.

koenie17 -> RE: Antonio Rey: what song is this? (Oct. 19 2015 19:10:58)

I´ve been seeing a lot of people lately using this Carlos Juan Sensors.
Anyone has tried it yet? No modification to your guitar is a big plus, also seems to pick up the golpe very nice.

Really keen buying one...[:-]

I came really close until someone pointed out to me that in all the videos you are hearing sound from a mic as well - eg Antonio is talking and it ain't the sensor recording him [;)]. Forehead slap moment.

Also you might want to check out what Jason McGuire thought of these, he took one apart as I recall. Shame he's not here to tell you but there was a very interesting exchange on Facebook...

The cost is absolutely crazy for what these actually are, but the videos of maestros trying them out will of course mean they sell. I could say more but it should probably be by PM if you are interested.

I ended up buying an AKG C411p - same idea except its a contact condenser, not a piezo buzzer. Less than half the price. It arrived today funnily enough, hope to try it out soon in conjunction with external mic, though my next gig's not for a few weeks.

koenie17 -> RE: Antonio Rey: what song is this? (Oct. 19 2015 20:06:21)

Thanks Blondie! Let me know what you think of the AKG C411p
I´d really like some more info on these Carlos Juan sensors... Anyone tried one??
I´ll ask Jason on FB

I have one of those... It's not bad, however, it cannot come even close to comparing with a good microphone (for recording purposes). It is not bad for live performance.

Cheers!

El Kiko -> RE: Antonio Rey: what song is this? (Oct. 19 2015 22:05:44)

i couldnt be bothered to write it all , but he is just saying how the system he now has ,, how much he likes it ...
more or less .. missing out some bits he says ....

hello my freinds, i am Antonio Rey , and i would like to share with you this system that was sent to me ,,...
its from germany ....
nothing happens to the guitar top and there is no socket in it at the back .....
the truth is , it sounds very real and i like it a lot ...
we are always suffering in the world of flamenco with the sound that comes back .. from monitors etc .. it doesn't help him hear the percussion or the Palmas etc ....
but this i really like it a lot ..

so im gonna play a little bit of something and see if you like it

rombsix -> RE: Antonio Rey: what song is this? (Oct. 20 2015 4:10:57)

This is some pretty top-notch noodling, methinks. [:D]

DavRom -> RE: Antonio Rey: what song is this? (Oct. 20 2015 8:44:42)

i think what Antonio is emphasizing is "no hace falta apretar mucho"

no need to squeeze a lot, in other words, the pickup brings out the subtleties and dynamics easily. room acoustics and mic are all in there so tone-wise this video is another story

anyway, it's always nice to hear him play. i have no idea what he's playing

rombsix -> RE: Antonio Rey: what song is this? (Oct. 20 2015 13:47:31)

Some sort of stringed-instrument. [8D]

That was funny.. your dreams about new songs were crushed by the "sistema" [:D]

Sistema of a Down. [8D]

El Kiko -> RE: Antonio Rey: what song is this? (Oct. 20 2015 19:23:22)

quote:

"no hace falta apretar mucho"

he doesnt actually say that .. in fact the opposite ..when hes talking about the problems with the monitors and El sonido por dentro . .. he says.. tenemos que apretar...because of the sound, we have to push more ...

which is kinda strange because what comes out of the monitor has nothing to do with his sound much ... its an interior mix from the mixing desk .. or another one on the stage side ....I think he should talk to El Técnico en Sonido about that one ...tell him to turn the percussion and plamas down a bit .....anyway

but he is , i suppose implying that the sound is clearer so it helps him hear it ....

DavRom -> RE: Antonio Rey: what song is this? (Oct. 20 2015 21:23:22)

quote:

dude, he's talking about how easy it works for him. @ 2:10 he clearly says [with this system] "no hace falta apretar mucho"

@ 0:25 he says it's a miracle someone is looking out for flamenco guitarists (presumably the mic system developers) because, he says, "tenemos que apretar, nos come la percusión o las palmas" that is, [without this mic system] we have to play harder because we're drowned out by percussion or clapping

so, my friend, you got it backwards [;)]

DavRom -> RE: Antonio Rey: what song is this? (Oct. 20 2015 21:27:03)

@ 2:36 he talks about Paco's passing and that he will play a bit from a new recording

Sr. Martins -> RE: Antonio Rey: what song is this? (Oct. 21 2015 1:58:06)

quote:

@ 2:36 he talks about Paco's passing and that he will play a bit from a new recording

I think he says that he "transcribed" that from Paco and intends to record it. If this is the case, maybe someone who knows Paco's discography could tell us which song it is.

DavRom -> RE: Antonio Rey: what song is this? (Oct. 21 2015 2:21:58)

^^^^

that's incorrect too. @ 2:44 he says "saqué un pedacito cuando se fue"

trans: i wrote a little piece when he left us

Sr. Martins -> RE: Antonio Rey: what song is this? (Oct. 21 2015 2:34:25)

quote:

saqué un pedacito

Could mean "Transcribed a little bit". In fact that would be the only meaning in Portuguese.

DavRom -> RE: Antonio Rey: what song is this? (Oct. 21 2015 2:37:55)

lol

In fact that's not Portuguese he's speaking, it's Polish

seriously, wait for the new record

[8|]

Leñador -> RE: Antonio Rey: what song is this? (Oct. 21 2015 3:25:12)

quote:

saqué un pedacito cuando se fue

Could easily be "I took a little piece when he left". Though that doesn't sound like Paco to me so I think DavRom could be right here, but his wording does imply that he "took it".

Sr. Martins -> RE: Antonio Rey: what song is this? (Oct. 21 2015 3:30:36)

quote:

"I took a little piece when he left"

IMO, taking is much closer to "transcribing" than "composing".

But hey, I am portuguese, worlds apart from Spain... oh, wait.. maybe it's just a tiny frontier. [:D]

Leñador -> RE: Antonio Rey: what song is this? (Oct. 21 2015 3:41:49)

I hear you and would agree, that just doesn't sound like anything Paco wouldve written but I could easily be wrong.

Portuguese and Spanish are super close. I had a Brazilian girlfriend for a little while and she didn't know any english. Our relationship basically survived on her speaking Portuguese really slowly and for the most part no problem. I spoke to her in Spanish and eventually she learned Spanish pretty well and communication was easy. The only issue we had was when her word for run was my F word lol
"I'm tired cus I ran a lot at work today." and I was like "You did what???" lolol

He says: When Paco Left us I took a little peace and recorded it on my new album.

I think he´s probably talking about "camino al alma"

quote:

that's incorrect too. @ 2:44 he says "saqué un pedacito cuando se fue"

trans: i wrote a little piece when he left us

Thats not correct, he means he learned(took) a litlle bit of something Paco composed.
Sacar literally means to take(something) so if I want to say I´m going to learn that falseta:

Este falseta me lo voy a sacar

El Kiko -> RE: Antonio Rey: what song is this? (Oct. 21 2015 17:03:04)

yeh , you right he doeas say that ... i just only listened to first part .. and some of the music but not the rest .. i got distracted ...
