Top of the line Conde for sale, cheap. Now you can be better still [:D]

Leñador -> RE: Javier Conde ripping up Entres (Aug. 25 2015 16:50:15)

From where does the measurement start Miguel? That could make a difference..... [:D]

Miguel de Maria -> RE: Javier Conde ripping up Entres (Aug. 25 2015 16:50:17)

I have tried lots of picado-enlargement schemes and will probably always continue to do so, even after incurring tendinitis a few times. My picado happens to be more to the left of the chart, but I keep trying. I generally don't talk about another man's picado and would not go so far as to tell a man his picado does not measure up to, say, someone who works in a certain type of entertainment industry. None of my business, really. I do respect those with right-side picado and it's up to them what they want to do with it. Picado is a big part of what we do here, maybe 50%, so I am always interested in watching when it comes up.

Grisha -> RE: Javier Conde ripping up Entres (Aug. 25 2015 17:10:36)

From some of these comments it appears to be true that too large of a picado can hurt certain people.

Miguel de Maria -> RE: Javier Conde ripping up Entres (Aug. 26 2015 1:50:39)

What you say is true. Picado envy. Even worse, perhaps, is when a prosthesis is used for picado.

I think they have Piagra now.

Miguel de Maria -> RE: Javier Conde ripping up Entres (Aug. 26 2015 13:49:58)

Piagra? What is this world coming to?

[PM to Pimientito: So do you know an online subscriber for the Piagra?]

Pimientito -> RE: Javier Conde ripping up Entres (Aug. 26 2015 14:33:40)

I think you can get it if you subscribe to Ashley Madison

My Yahoo spam folder is full of adverts for cheap generic Canadian Piagra.....

Pimientito -> RE: Javier Conde ripping up Entres (Aug. 27 2015 8:48:27)

Genuine Piagra comes from Spain

Why does he need to compose? Don't you think he would play his compositions if he liked them? I don't know how he composes but he obviously feels interpreting the classics expresses him best at the moment.

Not everyone is born a composer. You can work at it and acquire better technique, expand your language, but you will never have that thing that moves people. You have to be born with it.

Would you listen to mediocre music just because it's original? Or would you rather go listen to some of the very best compositions played live by one of the top guitarists in the world?

I think one issue might also be that some good composers think their compositions are not good enough or mediocre as you said,,,, whereas in fact those compositions ARE really good and moving and at least on same level of many nice recordings out there. Kind of wrong self perception maybe? .... Those compositions just need to be put out so that people can hear them. Let the audience jugde.

does he accompany singers and/or dancers?
I think all the solo players I like did at least some of that, if only in the beginning of their careers - think Paco with lots of singers inc. of course Camarón, touring with Greco's dance group as a teenager etc. etc., Gerardo and Carmen, Vicente and El Pele, even Riqueni worked with dance groups starting out, and I was just listening this morning to Sonakay by Juana la del Revuelo which Riqueni recorded on.

I think it's probably a double career advantage, first it gets their name known in flamenco circles and fills up their CV, and second gives impetus to creating own material.
There is the necessity of composing and/or adapting falsetas, as well as the ideas and inspiration that comes from playing with dancers and singers. or as Mark2 put it:

quote:

creativity is required for one to be considered along with the top players.
And it comes easily for professionals involved in accompaniment, where a guitarist is constantly expected to create material to enhance others performance.
Everyone has heard Paco playing for singers using falsetas from his solos.
What isn't known is how many, or which, of those falsetas were created in the service of a singer.

going back to his own compositions, he has this:

sim999 -> RE: Javier Conde ripping up Entres (Aug. 29 2015 11:16:21)

Javier conde has an amazing technique that's for sure, love the granaina, these tremolos are executed perfectly, very powerful. I agree with Ricardo about his tone it could be better I think, especially during the arpeggios.

quote:

I dont understand what he's doing career wise. I see him on you tube playing live and even recently, he's playing the same Serranito stuff he's been playing forever. I wish he would start writing and do a real record. He has the

Well he's not a composer and probably never will be. It's like Grisha they have amazing technique and have a huge repertoire but they are interpreting works not written by them and I'm fine with it. We need people to interpret the music to keep it "alive", to spread it. Plus some of the interpretations are like really amazing ! Playing and Composing are two different areas... (Improvising is also a different facet, never found a very good improviser in the flamenco world, paco has his good days but except him I dont see anyone.)

"All" Javier is playing are "licks" from studio or live versions of Paco's Entre dos aguas on your video (and it takes a considerable amount of talent to do that :).

Javier is like what 26 ? At the same age Vicente has already released his first album, Paco was releasing Fuente Y caudal, Nino miguel's 2 albums were both out... I don't think we should expect more from Javier maybe he will surprise us but I doubt it. It's like jeronimo he has an amazing technique but his compositions are simply not on the same level of his technique...

amigo -> RE: Javier Conde ripping up Entres (Aug. 29 2015 17:03:53)

Absolutely agree with "sim999"
I think that Antonio Rey is a good improviser... also has amazing technique and feeling... But not as Paco...

Agreed, but as far as living flamenco players, for me he is the best right now overall.

amigo -> RE: Javier Conde ripping up Entres (Aug. 29 2015 18:05:22)

Agree... Vicente...and Antonio... They're both Amazing players...
