Gerundino made a few unfinished guitars, or had some unfinished ones in his inventory, right up to the period 2000-2002 (He passed away in 2006). During that period some of his guitars were finished by Juan Miguel Gonzalez, who has been a highly respected luthier in his own right for years now. Some of Gerundino's earlier, unfinished guitars were finished by Gonzalez but bear the label of Gerundino alone. Some of the later ones bear the labels of both Gerundino and Gonzalez. The ones from the period that bear the label of Gerundino alone are great guitars and have that typical Gerundino flamenco rasp and projection. I have never played one with the labels of both Gerundino and Gonzalez and don't know how they sound. Probably very good, as Gonzalez had been finishing guitars for Gerundino for some time.

Morante -> RE: Gerundino (Aug. 8 2015 18:41:26)

It would be interesting to have some verifiable facts about Gerundino: many people believe that all of the later guitars were made by other people.

In his biography, by Paco UrrarĂa Fernandez, his nephew, in a press cutting of December 1996, Gerundino says that in the small taller in the attic of his house, he only made 3 guitars ( in another interview he says that he made four.[;)]

At the beginning of 2005 he had no guitars for sale and passed away in March 2006.

He calculated that he had made 1200 guitars.

Hi Morante,
the very same thing could be said about many others in Spain as Faustino Conde for instance.
These guitars keep being sought after anyway and when the market makes the price sometimes is right.
This guitar is a good one IMHO and I had other Gerundinos to compare with.

I'd be much happy to discuss about Gerundino in the Lutherie section but prefer to leave this post just to discuss about this particular instrument.
I'll add other pictures and hopefully a video.
Thanks
