I also have some of the Herrero videos and i dont like them either. i thought you liked Herrero's DVD's - didn't you post a video of yourself playing some of his falsetas? quote:
He´s soooo boring. [:D] he's not draining whisky bottles, rolling joints or snorting coke of the back of the guitar if that's what you mean....[:D] but as far as I can tell he plays the material clearly and cleanly in slow and fast speeds for beginner to intermediate learners and does a good job of it. quote:
I dont like them and I think its a poor and cerebral way of studying flamenco. agreed, the books are waaaaaay too analytical. The DVD's are a better compromise IMO. But what do you think of the idea of the DVD's showing llamadas, remates, falsetas, compás etc. and encouraging the student to put it together, as opposed to most teaching materials showing solos? quote:
you´ll be better of using some youtube videos what videos would you recommend for beginner/intermediate students outside of Spain without a teacher? The student on YouTube has everything to choose from, from Paco de Lucía concerts to really bad amateur instructional video's.... quote:
All this reading music is not something that I think works very well for music like flamenco agreed. When you go to play with a singer or dancer, they aren't going to hand you a score.... With the DVD's most of the stuff is clear enough to be learned without needing to use the tabs provided....
